Just a hair over a year ago, I got my FitBit One and very shortly thereafter, two of my friends got theirs. One of the first things we did together was Walk MS. My friend Louise (the one in the middle of the pic) has MS and we thought it would be a great way to get our steps in, support our friend, and raise money for a good cause... And here we are .... (story continues....)
Fast forward...
One year and many, many steps later....
Louise has lost 90+ pounds, Barbara (on the left) has lost 60+ and I (on the right) have lost 55. Here we were today at this year's Walk MS....
THANK YOU FITBIT for keeping us motivated, giving us the tools for this accomplishment, and keeping us moving!!! We all still have a little bit to go to our goals, but we know we can make it and we know we'll stay there once we get there thanks to our FitBits.....

Whoa, Nelly! You three are A-MA-ZING!! Holy Moly what a year does to a body. You are all so very inspirational!! Did you do this while dieting too? As in keeping within the specified calorie range that FitBit suggests?? I'd love to know your food history while using the Fitbit. That is awesome! P.S. My husband has MS too. I can't wait to show him your story.

@tahari01 - Thanks!!
We all 3 are using the Fitbit Food Plan - set to help us lose 1 pound a week. Barbara is doing Weight Watchers, but Louise and I are just logging our food and eating less and/or better. We've all had our good weeks and bad ones. There are some times where you just don't have control over what you eat and you have to make the best of it. But FitBit helps us stay on track (and get back on track after those times where you can't control). I tell people that the information I get with the FitBit app - calories burned vs. calories consumed - helps me to make the choices I always knew I should make. I may choose to eat something higher in calories - but then I also know I need to work harder that day. Or I may choose to eat something lower in calorie to keep my deficit where I want it that day.
I think that tracking your food it key - you need to see those calories in vs. out numbers to help you make the right choices for eating and working out. I thought it would be a pain to do it, but am surprised to find that it doesn't bother me at all - probably because I've realized how valuable it is 🙂
Good luck to you! Thanks for the nice feedback.

Congratulations, Ladies! What an inspiring story. I read this while inhaling my lunch at my desk - prepping for yet another meeting where I will sit on my butt for 2 hours. But the second I hit "post" on this, I'm going to get up and walk around the building before the meeting starts. Thank you for your inspirational pictures!

I had to print this out for motivation. Thank you for sharing your story. I've been at this for 7 weeks now and I'm not seeing any difference on the scale, but seeing this post has motivated me to keep on keepin on and be patient. I know I need to be more consistent and accurate in logging my food and I really need to drink more water. I'm also going to start adding circuit training to the mix and I hope that I can post a before/after picture just like yours next year!

I was three months into my weight loss campaign when my kids got me my FitBit Zip for my birthday in early February. I had already lost over 30 lbs since Nov 1, 2013 and was pretty much into the "zone." Daily nutruitonal meals with regular exercising so the FitBit was a good tool to record my results. I didn't use it and still don't for nutrition input. I have a separate spread sheet for that.
Along with my TomTom GPS Sports Watch, I've been able to better calibrate my exercise and dietary intake so that I am losing around 3 lbs a week.
I've found that I'm really getting more benefit from this FitBit community and discussion. I've really learned a lot from many of you. Hope my few measly posts have been of equal value to you all.
