Where did all my weight data go?

ANSWERED

I use to see my weight tracked since I started using a fitbit, but now they only show data for the past year. Did fitbit really just destroy all my data?

The desktop Dashboard (https://www.fitbit.com/weight) can only show a maximum of two years at a time:

The mobile app, OTOH, will show the entire period (for instance, since July 2013, in my case):

However, I’d suggest you link your Fitbit account to TrendWeight (see link in my signature), which provides better graphs than Fitbit IMO and will let you show any period for your entire weight history.

Use the calendar feature to change the year? I have my data still.

And it graphs all your data? It use to graph my weight since I first started using fitbit, and now it only has a 1 year button so you can't see your data for say the last 4 years. When I tried changing the date ranges it wouldn't let me change to anything greater than the last year.

I just checked my app, and it still shows all the weight data since I got my tracker in March 2016, including all graphs and individual weigh-ins. The graph choices are 1 wk (current week so far), 1 mo (current month so far); 3 mo (current month so far + 2 previous months); 1 yr (current year so far); and All (charts all weights since I started using the tracker.). Attached image is the "All" graph. I looked a bit and I can't think of a setting that may have blocked this information on your app. However, it still seems to be available.

The "All" graph goes back 1 yr 9 monthsThe "All" graph goes back 1 yr 9 months

Well, thought this would be a good option (TrendWeight), but no.    Note of caution about the TrendWeight app, I signed up and it only brings in the weight from Jan 1st, no history!  So, really doesn't solve the problem.  But, it does have some good insights and easily syncs to your Fitbit account.

It is great that the history is still on the Fitbit mobile app - please don't lose that - that is my world :)!

@pugetsoundgirl: I’m surprised TrendWeight would only import part of your history. Have you tried accessing it on a desktop computer (as opposed to a mobile device)? When accessing it via a mobile device, not all features are available/functional. For instance, the tabs used to change the period cannot be used on mobile devices:

@Dominique, I think when you first link TrendWeight it will only link back to the beginning of the year you joined,  After that it will give cumulative info for all time.

(That was my experience, anyway.)

@Julia_G: it seems it’s a case of YMMV. I started using TW in early 2016, but it certainly had no problem importing all my history since July 2013 (when I started using my Fitbit Aria). I believe @Baltoscott started using TW last year, but his history goes even further back in time (beginning of 2012).

@Dominique, that's weird!  I have several years of weighings in my Fitbit account, but only joined Trend Weight a few months ago.  When I linked my Fitbit account it grabbed weight only from the first of January so it now tells me that I have been tracking my weight for12.5 months.  Maybe they recently changed the way they do it for more recent joiners?  Or did I miss out a step?  My recollection is that all I did was link my account.

If you go to settings on Trendweight (top of page on computer, bottom on phone) you have the option of changing the start date from which Trendweight pulls data from your Fitbit (or in my case) Nokia/Withings  account.

It is a nice feature.  Sometimes I set it to pull just from January 2017 so I can see the weight loss calculation from my most recent diet attempt and it will query Withings for just that time period, and other times I set it to pull from before I started using my Withings scale (2012 or 2011), and it will query my Withings account and pull everything it has.  I don’t know what it defaults to if all you do is link the accounts — maybe, as @Julia_G guesses, just to January of the present year, or maybe just to the day you set up the account.  In any event, you can change it to pull old weigh-ins from Withings or Fitbit if they are there.

Ah, thanks for that, @Baltoscott!  I can confirm that the default seems to be 1 January the year you set up the account, since I never messed with that setting before.  I just reset the start date to when I started logging weight and it pulled up all historical data.

I loved the downward graph between January 16 and July 16... Not sure I wanted to be reminded of the upward graph between July 16 and March 17!

My weight history, 10 yrs, is also gone. Only goes back to 2023.  I cant remember an event i did that would have caused this. Maybe it was the purchase by google?  Tracking on another app wont help if the data isnt there.... anybody else solve for this?

Hi, @Worldtraveler65 , you older data should be there, but it is a little harder to find now that the web based program Fitbit.com is gone.  The instructions are a little different depending on whether you use the iOS app or the Android app so if you let me know I can try to help you find it.

Hi, @Moosegirl on your Android app, from the opening, Today, screen click on the weight tile.  On the next screen at the top you will see Day, Week, Month, 3 Months, and Year.  However if you swipe left on that horizontal menu you will find “All time”.  Click on that .  Once you are in the All time section you can swipe up through the years to find all your old weight measurements.

@FannySantos , and @Worldtraveler65  if you use Android please see my reply to MooseGirl above.  If you use iOS, click on the weight tile and then swipe up to scroll through the years.  If you want to see a graph of your weight trend over the years, at the bottom of the blue graph showing your current weight trend click on the word Today.  On the next screen you will have the option to see a graph of your weight trends of 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, Year or All time.

I hope this helps!
