Why am I not loosing weight?

Daily I am buring about 2500 calories and eating about 1300 calories. So why I am I not loosing any weight?

there could be a whole plethora of reasons:

 

1. you're working out - you could be building muscle while losing fat.  use a tape measure

2. you're really eating more calories than you think

3. you're really burning less calories than you think

4. a combination of 2 and 3

5. you've hit a plateau and your body is still adjusting

 

how long have you been at it?  did you see weight loss previously and then it stopped?

With the multitude of reasons possible for not loosing weight, the most common in this arena will be that you are not calculating either side of your calories properly.  You are either eating too much or not exercising enough.  If you have checked these, I would change your exercise routine. 

 

Often we think that spending 30 minutes on a bike is great but at some level, you are only working the same muscle groups AND you have become conditoned to it.  By changing your routine, you force different muscle groups to work and thus expand your progress.

 

If you are not doing an interval based training, try it for two-four weeks to see if you see some changes.  Also get with a partner to work out as this can motivate you past your current workout levels.  Either way, stay with it and keep trying new things as it will work.

 

one final thought is about starvation.  If your body NEEDS more than 1300 calories, you will not shed calories as easy so you really are not burning 2500 but maybe only 1500 because your body is holding onto your calories to avoid starvation.  Try to eat some healthy snacks during the day to increase and spread out your calories to see if that helps drop the pounds.  The final step in this process is to drink tons of water so your body does not hold onto any of it.

I'm going for the idea your logging is not that totally awful as to overcome a 1200 cal deficit, nor is the Fitbit that has a better chance of actually underestimating exercise inflating your burn.

 

If your logging of food could overcome 600 calories, you'd basically be lying to yourself purposely, or some short term memory problems.

 

Depending on how hard you threw yourself in to total changes in your life, exercise is trying to cause body improvements, not weight loss BTW, and improvements usually mean gain.

It would be about impossible to be gaining muscle though in that big of a deficit, so no fears there.

Your fear should be that big a diet burning it up, which would make maintenance a nightmare with less muscle mass.

 

But if doing the traditional cardio that vast majority jump in to - that's asking the body to store more carbs, which store more water, so up to 3 lbs there possibly, until your diet knocks them out again.

If sore, that's water in the muscle for repair, it'll flush.

 

If you've actually been doing that extreme a deficit for like 3-4 weeks, I'm betting you had a stressed system already and you just stressed it too much more, and it adapted by slowing down.

You no longer have the deficit you thought you had.

Combined with probably eating more than you think, that smaller deficit has now been wiped out by potentially bad logging.

 

If you have over 40 lbs to lose - 2 lbs weekly is fine, but down at 20 lbs, 1 lb would be more reasonable, 10 lbs 1/2 lb weekly is better.

 

Better to puposely select slower weight loss with wise decisions than have your body cause it by unwise choices.
