Why am I not losing weight?

I've been doing a very strict routine. I don't eat garbage, every day I have around a 1000 calorie deficit. I do twenty minutes of cardio and then strength training every weekday, weekends I have off. At my weekly standpoint, Fitbit told me I had a net - 7000 calorie deficit for last week. This has been around the same for a month. I feel stronger, I don't think I look different at all (but that's just because I believe I'm fat all the time) and I'm sore for a few days but then I'm good. I don't know what I'm doing wrong... The only possibility I've come to the conclusion to is that my college education causes me so much stress I can't lose weight. Opinions? Thoughts? I

I know from first hand experience that aging does make weight management tougher - I also have thyroid/hosimoto's which cycles through my system putting my metabolism low at points.

If you eat good/clean, exercise to keep the body healthy, get proper rest - then it should be a matter of tweaking your diet a bit or exercise a bit to start to loose some weight.

I'm sure pre-menopause has an impact.....

Track your diet for two weeks, to a very detailed degress and see if there's any indicators there that would be getting in the way.  Sometimes its a matter of switching up your exercise also - if you do the same 'things' over a long period of time, your body starts to do them more efficently reducing the calories burned.

Ah. Sleep. Now there's an issue. I have had chronic sleep disturbances for a couple of years now. I used to sleep 8 hours. I almost always go to bed at 9 (my entire life) but now am waking up at 2, 3, 4am and cannot go back to sleep. On days I get less than 8 hours, I am overall sluggish.

Sorry to hear about your Hashimotos. My mom had hyperthyroidism and I have a sister who has hypothyroidism. So far, knock on wood, no problem there. Hopefully never!

Your lack of sleep could be a big factor - here's an article from WebMD regarding it: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/excessive-sleepiness-10/lack-of-sleep-weight-gain

Maybe seeing a Dr about it will uncover the root cause and once you start getting enough sleep, your weight loss will happen.

Best of luck!
