Hi Shirley!  Welcome to the Fitbit family.  Fitbit is such a fun, motivating product, and a real life changer.  I think you'll find the user community very knowledgeable, helpful, and enthusiastic, and I encourage you to find and keep in touch with Fitbit friends--and to spend time reading posts and asking questions.  Fitbit also has an outstanding customer support team and excellent moderators to help as well.

To answer your question, I think it is such a personal thing--from how quickly you digest your food and feel comfortable exercising after a meal--to your time schedule.  Personally, I like to have some coffee or tea then head out the door for a long walk, followed by breakfast.  Also when we exercise in the morning, it helps our metabolism to rev more throughout the day--another advantage to morning workouts.  Plus, what a great, positive way to start the day!  Welcome!  Smiley Happy

Hi!

I personally exercise in the morning before I eat anything. However, I IMMEDIATELY (within 30 minutes)  have some protein (an egg or a shake) afterwards to combat any fatigue.

Everyone is different, I know for me I cannnot eat then workout. Do what you feel is comfortable Smiley Happy

Studies have shown that it is personal preference.

The only difference would be if eating first allowed you to do a really strong workout, and not eating made it not so strong.

A wimpy workout needs no repair later, and strong workout does. That repair later will burn more fat than normal metabolic rate would.

Only other place for a difference, if you are training your aerobic fat-burning system for endurance cardio, then do a calm brief workout fasted would assist that goal.

But for purely weight loss, whatever allows a good workout. And some days may be an easy workout don't need it. Other days you need a strong workout and need breakfast first.
