Hi! I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support. I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs. My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

I'm post-menopausal as well and have the same issues - I've gained 15 lbs in the past 2 years, don't sleep well, am very thirsty especially at night, and also have to urinate pretty frequently. I wake up often guzzle water like its going out of style. I can't take hormone supplements so its been fun ride the past few years dealing with the side effects of menopause. My PCP tells me everything I'm experiencing is normal and have been directed to focus on a combination of weight bearing exercise and cardio (in combination with healthy eating/calorie reduction) to help with weight management, improve metabolism and help with bone strength. Muscle burns more calories than fat so maintaining lean muscle and bone density through weight bearing exercise should help with weight management and bone health. Easier said than done. There are lots of women going through the same thing - you're not alone.
