Anyone out there know how to beat middle aged belly fat? It seems exercise doesn't neccesarily solve the problem. Any tips on exercise and diet to beat this stubborn problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙂

The majority of research I've seen and the people I've talked to on this forum indicates that you can't "spot" reduce a certain area of your body.
Just keep a negative calorie count and keep doing lots of calisthenics. Eventually your body fat percentage should go down and shrink that tire.
I have the opposite problem, Too much excess blubbery skin and how to get rid of that without going under the knife to do so...

@Stephen1227The bain of our lives. My weight came off from the ankles to the thighs, result size 42 to 36 jeans. Then from the face down to the bottom of the sternum. Total result 32 lbs. Now plateaued on my last 10-12 lbs. No health issues but still have a prosperity bulge as my kids call it.
I'm taking it easy with that and when I witness my b-in-law who has dropped 37lb from proper eating and illness, no exercise because he is ill, he still has his bulge, skin and bones elsewhere, so it is a battle.

Maybe you'd be interested in Lyle McDonald's book The Stubborn Fat Solution (I guess belly fat in middle aged people would qualify as "stubborn"!). However, it's aimed at people who are already very lean. I've read his Guide to Flexible Dieting and I found it very useful. Unfortunately, I'm not yet at the level one must reach before tackling stubborn fat
