I'm starting a virtual hike of the Florida Keys tomorrow, June 3. That way, instead of just saying I took 10,000 steps, I can say "I made it to Key West!) I thought I'd start with the shortest trail.
Join me and let's post our progress and encourage each other!

@WordWhimsy Thanks so much for noticing I haven't been moving - at least not with my tracker. It stopped working! I'm so annoyed. So, you go ahead, as much as you can do, and I will catch up at some point when I get another one. (then I will zip passed you!)
Funny, when you weren't moving much for a couple of days, I got worried about you.

@Bobbinyc try calling fitbit, they have AWESOME customer service. My first fitbit was a One, and it slipped out of the plastic holder when I was taking my sweater off in an airport, and I couldn't find it. I called fitbit, and told them my dillemma, once I could locate my receipt, thankfully I had bought it online and had the receipt saved on my computer. I emailed them my receipt and they sent me a new fitbit at no charge! Maybe you can troubleshoot yours, I have had to do a hard shutdown on mine when it had stopped working before, then tada, it started working again.
That is such a bummer! Hope you can fix it easily. Miss you on the trail.

I called customer service, about a problem, also. As Bobbi said, they were terrific! Good luck Word!

I'm here and still o stage 7, kinda slow going, I don't know why but I've been pretty unmotivated. I signed up for a 1/2 marathon October 4th and I'm so SCARED!!! I have done them before, but I've never been this out of shape/heavy before. I MUST get in some long run/walks so I have the confidence to finish. I know it won't be a great race, but hopefully I don't feel like I want to quit.

@WordWhimsy My impression of you is that you are not a quitter. Period. You can do this! Get in shape as best you can without injuring yourself. This is about health and taking good care of yourself. And that is what you don't quit on. Marathon, shmarathon. There will be others. You are going through something now that is putting a damper on your motivation. That's life, just the way it works. And at the same time you are still walking, still taking care of yourself. That is strength. You deserve to take good care of yourself, and you deserve to have your own goals. Do what you can for now, and continue after Oct. 4. There will be more marathons, and you always need to take good care of you. That means you may NOT put yourself down in any way or feel bad about yourself. Whatever got you here, this is where you are and if you are gentle and encouraging with yourself, and look at yourself honestly, you will figure it out and move forward. Do the marathon, sure, but mostly do everything you can to take good care of you - physically, emotionally, etc. And judging by how you keep pushing past me, my guess is you can finish that marathon, just because it's what you do.
ok? Gentle, kind, encouraging with yourself. got it? Now get up off your butt and keep walking! 😉

Hi everyone! I went away for a class. I walked most days. One day, however, was a travel day and another was spent late in the studio so I didn't walk. I returned yesterday and got right out there walking this morning. Its good to see everyone again!
Word, when I get unmotivated I take one of my "leisure walks". I just get out there and start to walk around my neighborhood while listening to my podcasts. I tell myself that speed and distance doesn't matter. It doesn't take me long to want to increase my "leisure walk" to a regular walk. Going to the shops can be helpful too. Again, speed doesn't matter, just steps. Hope this helps!

Hi all,
Checking in!
Yesteray was that big charity walk and I forgot my fitbit!!!! GRRRRR Luckily, one of my teammates had her fitbit so, at the end of the day, she gave me our total steps for the walk and I manually added it.
In total, we ended up walking 29km yesterday. Today, I'll be lucky to get 100 steps in ... I'm so sore LOL But I'm totally proud of myself for doing it.
@WordWhimsy you can absolutely do your 1/2 marathon. And, you have to - wanna know why? Because we all know you can do it and I really want you to feel the sense of accomplishment I'm feeling today. I've gotten off track recently and this walk has totally got my motivation back in check.
You still have a few weeks to prep - think of the marathon as your motivation to keep moving for the next few weeks. We all know you can do it!!!!

@paperclip @Bobbinyc @Joy_ - I just have to say a big huge THANK YOU for all the encouragement. even though I didn't read all your kind words until today, I must have felt them this weekend, because I got some great walks in, yesterday I even went on the treadmill, and just pounded out 5 miles in 63 minutes!! YAY ME! I'm feeling so much better, and like I can really do this.
@paperclip congrats on your charity walk! 29k is awesome! You deserve a rest, way to go.

Today I made it to Vasquez Rocks! Kinda cool, Im imagining Captain Kirk up there 😉 . By tomorrow I shoud be on stage 14! I have been putting in pretty good numbers this week but getting out of work later, with the sun going down earlier is cutting down on my ability to walk home (not the best neighborhood by my job). todays a bright day, so should have no problem at 6:30. That will get me 4 of the last 6 of this stage 🙂

Great job @auroram I just made it to stage 9, I haven't been checking the pictures. Seems like they've been a lot of the same ole, same ole.
I did have my run, but I decided to be realistic and changed my event from the 1/2 marathon to the 10k, it was the right choice, as it still felt like a challenge, and I didn't kill myself.
I also really dislike that it's getting dark so early!
