Error occurs when editing periods

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I cannot change the start or end of my period on the period tracking tile, on either my phone or desktop. Every time I press "save" I get an error message telling me that an unexpected server error has occurred. I've been trying for the last 48 hours to no avail. Not had the best experience with FitBit in general tbh.

Welcome to the Female Health board @angbw, hope you're doing great! Smiley Very Happy When you press the pencil icon to edit a period, you will see the option to Save, Cancel, or Delete it.

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the female health tile.
  2. Tap or click the start date of a period on the calendar.
  3. Tap or click the pencil icon to add or edit a period (you can also tap and hold a date on the calendar). If you turned on predictions, the entire period appears on the calendar based on your average period length.
  4. On the calendar, tap the first or last day of a period and then slide your finger across the dates to adjust the period length.
  5. Tap or click Save.

If you're having difficulty doing this, please close and then restart the app. Also worth noting that you should have the latest version of the Fitbit app downloaded.

If a period doesn’t meet the following requirements, you may receive an error and be unable to log the period:

  • You can only add or edit current or past periods and details.
  • A period must be at least 1 day.
  • A period must be less than 11 days. If your period is longer, consider logging flow intensity details.
  • A cycle must be at least 11 days, and there must be a gap of at least 1 day between logged periods. If you experience a gap in bleeding during your period, it’s still 1 period.

Note that If you attempt to log a period in the future or a period with less than a one-day gap between periods, the pencil icon is unavailable. If you don’t see the pencil icon, make sure the period you’re attempting to log or edit meets all of the requirements.

As a friendly reminder, at this time, female health tracking is available in the Fitbit app for iOS, Android, and Windows 10. This is not available on Fitbit.com Dashboard.

If the message keeps popping up, can you please try confirming the period first and then drag to adjust the dates? Let me know if by doing this you can save the changes made.

Keep me in the loop!

But how do you slide your finger across the weekend, ie from the end of a week to a new week that is shown below?

My period is a couple of days earlier than FitBit expected, but when I edit so my period starts today (Sunday) instead of Wednesday, only the starting date is changed and FitBit believes my period will be nine days instead of six (the period length I've chosen). I don't believe so. Why can't I just edit periods with writing in dates instead of this sliding that everyone seems to have so much trouble with...?

Welcome on board @StinaP! I totally understand you. Would you  mind to attach another screen shot while you do the process of editing your period? Like mine above, and let me know if you get the error that is being showed up in yellow:

edit period.jpg

If you're, please keep in mind what I said above (here). A period must be less than 11 days, otherwise you cannot drag your dates forward or backward.

If you're using the Android platform you'll need to drag slowly and then when you're at the desired day to hold down for a few seconds before letting go. On Android this is more sensitive, that's why you need to do it that way.

For anything else you would like to see implemented in this feature for the future, consider visiting our Feature Suggestions board. Look under the label "Female Health Tracking" for existing ideas that might match your own and vote!

I'll be around, ping me out!

Hi,

Thanks but I do understand how editing periods is *supposed* to work, so I had already followed the process you suggested.

The only one of your suggestions that was applicable and that I didn't try already was confirming the period before editing; because the app won't let me "predict the future".

I managed to successfully edit the start & end date of the period after after the point at which the app predicted my period to start, but this isn't fixed, it is a bug so if you could report it back to developers I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

I just figured this out. I've been fighting exactly this all week! While in the period tracker, go to Settings in the top right corner. It should bring up the option to remove "predictions". I turned it off, set my period then turned predictions back on. This way it seems to just put in your average period days and not what the predicted end date would've been. Hope it works for you!!! The sliding option is a terrible design if it doesn't fully work!

Welcome on board @Kelcdawn! Thanks for sharing this workaround with us. I just did this yesterday with my sister's app and it seemed to update everything correctly, just like you mentioned.

I'll be more than glad to report this. Smiley Very Happy

Hey @angbw, can you please let us know if by doing these steps you can edit your periods correctly as ours did?

Sorry, this didn't help. But the advice from @Kelcdawn was great. Still hoping for a real update from Fitbit though.

Tried restarting the app... tried turning off the predictions... none of that helped.  It doesn't like that my cycle started two days sooner than it "should" and won't let me save it when I try to edit.

So yea... great idea.. but definitely ought to work on the bugs for this!

Unfortunately my app has stopped working entirely an as far as I'm aware there's no timeframe on errors being fixed, so I'm completely unable to test this solution.

Hey there @angbw! If your app has stopped working, I'd recommend checking if it's already running the latest version. Check the article: What's changed in the latest release of the Fitbit app?. The version should be on 2.36.

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!

@MarreFitbitsorry to say that this work around has not helped me. I basically just have to wait for FB to think my period has started before I can alter the start dates, whether predictions are on or off.

Using the most recent update of the app on a Lumia 930.

I found another way to fix this temporarily! However, I do agree that it is a bug that needs to be fixed. I kept getting a popup that "an unexpected error has occurred" and couldn't edit my period (which had come early). What I did was go into the settings and change the cycle number so that the predicted period falls on the current date. Then, I confirmed the prediction, adjusted the bar to match, and put the correct cycle number back in. I hope this helps!

@MarreFitbit the only good news will be when this is fixed!

For obvious reasons, I'm now going to have to wait another month to try this workaround.

Having the same problem for the past month or so - forgot about it until I didn't know my period was starting as my app told me it wouldn't be til this time next week, so that was inconvenient.

Have tried all the suggested fixes, app is up-to-date, have restarted it and the computer, have tried turning off predictive periods - nothing.

Very frustrating as I deleted my old tracking app thinking the Fitbit one would be better to use!
