Best AnswerKathy,
I just got my "Fitbit One" about four days ago, but I will be glad to try and help you. Which model "fitbit" do you have? The first thing is to charge the unit in a USB port which sounds like you figured that out. I think the single piece of paper that came with mine said to go to "Fitbit.com" so do that next. When you get to the website, you will download the software to your PC/ phone or whatever device your using just follow the screen. After answering a couple questions, you then start wearing your fitbit. On mine syncing occurs automatically, oh also since mine is connecting to my PC, I have a separate really tiny dongle that stays plugged into one of my usb ports, I guess thats how it automatically syncs. You can also force a sync by selecting sync now, I usually do that after I wake up in the morning because besides exercise, I am using my "Fitbit" as a sleep monitor too. I hope this helps, and makes sense. I know the fitbit help, was not much help for me but once I figured it out it worked great.
Let me know if I can be of any other help.

Best AnswerKathy,
I would go and buy it back, Its really is a great device. I luv mine, there actually is a lot of help once you get logged on or figure out where the help website is located: https://help.fitbit.com/
As far as entering all the personal stuff there is actually a profile page, which lets you change and update stuff alot easier, so the initial sign-up you should just put in a couple basic things, and then once signed in go to the profile page and you can put in as much stuff as you want, and its easy too.

Best AnswerKathyApple. Don't return it. I love mine. I am electronically challenged as well. However, once you put the USB charger into your computer, place the black fitbit into it to charge. Once it has all the lights lit up, it is fully charged. Remove the black fitbit from the charger and place it into the wrist band (where you can see the lights flash.) Put the wrist band on, and voila' you are set.
Best AnswerHooray-Glad its working for you. Also "Fitbit" links with several programs, like I use mine with " Map your runs" website: http://www.mapmyrun.com/workout/
I really like it, have fun, and glad I could try to help! Lol.
