If it is cold and wintery where you are, be careful about walking on snow and ice.  If it is bad here (Ontario, Canada) we walk at the arena.  Try and see if there is somewhere like that you can walk.  Always better to be safe and not injured.

I'm a newbie to FitBit, and reacclimating myself to being active again after baby number 4 - I'm SO excited to get back into the fitness groove!  A wonderful co-worker introduced me to her One, and after telling my husband how excited I was about this device, I got it for Christmas!  Winter in Wisconsin is tough though, and I don't have the finances (or the time with three little ones still at home and a FT nursing job) to go to the gym (and really dislike the sub-zero temps).  Looking forward to connecting with people here!!!  Happy New Year everyone!

Hi Rubygirl et all,

I am new today too.  I think I've got all set up right, and sync'd my Flex Christmas gift to MacBook and iPhone 4S, but after initial setup, can't you change actual value of goals - e.g. 10,000 steps per day?  I can't find how to change those from default.  Any help appreciated, and Happy New Year!

I think you can change them on your Dashboard.  Click on the "gear" in the individual tile that you want to adjust, and enter new values.

I see that now, thanks!  I didn't notice it before...  I did find out how to do it in the iPhone app though - that app is almost more intuititive.

thanks and Happy New Year!

I got mine for Christmass as well.  Love it.  Sinks with MyFintnessPal and endomondo (when I can get outside again to walk).  I love it.  Just what I needed to get back on track again.  I have two daughters and two weddings to look great for.  Now to get motivated to get moving in all directions.

My boyfriend and I just got our fitbit One's today, and are loving it!  So neat to be able to track everything in one place and see the results in visuals.  Also to be able to challenge and compete with others!
Looking forward to the support and learning from the forums, and hopefully meeting my health goals.
All the best. 🙂

@Jodys, you start out by walking ... one day at a time ... one step at a time. If the weather is bad, go to the mall. Walking is fun. Watch the people. Listen to some music on your smart phone or on an MPS device. 55 lbs ago, my doctor started me on a goal of 20 minutes/day, three days a week. I found walking so enjoyable, I upped the time and days without her even having to mention it. I was thrilled to participate in my first 5k last November, just walking it, but that was ok.

Walk for the fun of it. Everything else will follow.
