To those who are new and just starting, I find it is easier for me if I set the goal to something that is achievable, with a little effort, rather than just using the preset 10k. I set mine for 5k the first week, saw that I could do that, increased it to 6k the next and then to 7k. When I manage to get that every day for a week I will raise it again. At least for me, it is more motivating with a reachable goal than with one that I am far from. Some days I manage to get to 15k, but I try to make sure I reach the goal I have set every day for a week before I raise it again. If you have a hard time reaching 10k this might work for you too.

I love this idea. the 10k is too much for me during the week when I am working

Hi I'm new to Fitbit, starting today. My husband bought one for himself and then I had FitBit envy, so he bought be my very own.

I am new to Fitbit, too. I've had it almost 2 weeks & I'm still learning how to use it! My main goal is to just move more!! Since retiring, I've gotten very sedentary. My husband & I are caregivers to our youngest son who is 27. He is quadraplegic & total care 24/7. Even doing his care, I still don't move alot. I've had issues with weight gain for the first time in my life since a hysterectomy when I was 43. I started a clean food challenge 2 weeks ago & promptly fell off of it last night. So, I can't wait to see what this community can do for me in my quest to be healthier. I have so much to learn!!

I am 8 days(9 days?) into my Fitbit and it sticks to me like my car keys, wallet, cell phone. It's something now that I never leave home without. I'm not going to lie, there are somedays that I wish that I could leave my cell phone at home and just an MP3 player. I have had no big complaints and I did a lot of research before I got mine. Once you get going, it's hard to stop. There is a lot of people here who are knowledgeable as well there is a community of members of people who are in it together as well. Even though we have our own goals, I found that the biggest goal that we have together is that we want to be healthier. It doesn't matter in what way from weightloss to eating healthy. We are here for a common goal.

Just a wee update. I have actually been using my FitBit since the end of July. But this is the first of me posting in the forum. So just a word to all the new starts. From just everyday walking I have logged over 1000 miles. The e-mail goals you get are a big help and a nice surprise when you get them. About the only time I take mine off is when I go for a jog. And that's just so its not counted twice as my Nike watch monitors this. So don't push it or you will burn out. Good luck.

Hi, My name is Tal and I am a new Fitbit user as of today, and I totally love the Surge watch and the Fitbit app. I took some time researching devices to put on my wrist in order to monitor and motivate me to loose weight. Am so delighted that I made the Fitbit choice.
I'm down 60 pounds so far and needed help to try and loose the final 60. If anyone is on this same journey, let's hook up and encourage one another.
Best hopes to you all,
Taleman
