Stephanie2 - Since you mentioned you hope you get motivated, it won't do it for you. My sggestion is to keep doing what you've been doing for a week. Then note the steps, calories, miles, time or whatever you can best relate to for comparisons. You can compete with others. But be sure you find others that are a little above your. Obviously, you don't want to run a marathon next week for a goal just because someone else did!

Then the following week, try to increase your stats a little. Others and I have posted some articles to help you learn what you might aim for. Just be sure they include things YOU like. Some may argue certain exercises are better. But if you don't enjoy them, you will soon quit. But do switch to different activities. If you enjoy walking, use different routes and differen times. Discover what works well for you. For some it has to be the first thing in the morning. It doesn't matter when. "Just do it!" as the Nike commercials say. Networking with others can keep it fun -- and help hold you accountable so you keep at it. Nearby friends and neighbors can help keep you motivated. Or get online friends by clicking on their probile photo, go to their profile and click on the nearby invite link -- and add some personal background or whatever.

If you have questions about anything, reach out to the Communities. Answers may already be there from others that had the same questions. If not, ask. If you seen answers, vote for them or at least let them know it has resolved things for you. Or you can contact Support. If urgent, contact them by phone. Once things are set up and in motion, it should be easy. Just wearing your device should help to remind you to keep active: use the stairs more, park further away, do another round of exercise, etc. - Ron

Thanks for the great advice.  It's all charged up and I'm going to start wearing it tomorrow.  The dog is going to be ecstatic with all the extra walks she's going to get as I try to get my steps in.

I'll be sure to read the recommended articles on the site.

Thanks!

Stephanie2 - Real ecstacy for you AND the dog? Hey, whatever works! *ROFL* I'm not sure if, like most, weight management is part of what you are seeking,. If so, a couple of the articles I submitted are hard even for ME to find. So, for your convenience I'll attempt to insert a couple of links for you below.

How Fitness Trackers Can Aid Weight Loss - to show some ways to utilize their features to advantage

Daniel Plan - which has been used successfully by Fitbit user ADM

I hope this makes it clearer. Incidentally, even if weight management isn't of primary concern to you, I feel the dist article can provide insight how to make it more relevant for other lifestyle changes.

I've nothing to sell. If you feel these can help, then by all means look into them. I've not tried the Daniel Plan. So it is only hearsay. But she mentioned it really turned her life around. Use or not is for you to decide. I will probably send you a Friend request so we can see how our progress develops. Hope this helps! - Ron

Hello all! I've had my Fitbit since March, but I've only now gotten up the courage to post. I'm using my Fitbit mostly to get me in the habit of moving more. I'd love to have more friends!

Got my fitbit charge HR last night and i'm loving it so far!
Only part that I can see that could do with improving is the sync with contacts/facebook etc..
And that my phone the HTC M8 has serious compatibility issues with the fitbit atm.. It's a shame I can't use all of the features I was hoping to!
Heres hoping there will be an update to fix that soon! 🙂

AndrewGray - Fitibt representatives monitor these Forums. However, I'd suggest you not leave it to chance. Contact Support (phone is faster) and tell them of your specific shortcomings. They may have a quick solution that can resolve during a short call, although you may have to hang a bit for them to answer. Even if they cannot fix, at least they are aware of the issue and may be able to provide options or create a specific patch, which probably would be inserted during an update. In a worse case scenario, if they cannot fix, then you will know and can plan accordingly. - Ron

Hi everyone,

I have had a Fitbit Cgarge HR for a few weeks. I am just getting started in the community so sorry I am not totally a brand new member. I am using my fitbit to see how much activity I am doing and really enjoyng it. I have seen I am doing more activity than i thought and was interested in what other people were up to.

I enjoy weight training and walking my dogs and playing with my beautiful boys.

Sorry for my profile pic, it seemed like a good idea at the time as i didn't know anyone.

Hope everyone is enjoying being active,

Regards Martin

Hi Guys!

Got my Fitbit Flex 2 weeks ago, first time I've actually considered a fitness tracker. Anyway, having lots of fun tracking my food and taking 10k steps. Would appreciate some Fitbit friends though for some fun competition (currently, none of my friends have one). Would probably motivate me more and help me increase my target step count

I've had my Fitbit for about 8 months, but I'm new to the forums.

I'm fighting weight gain after a TBI (ATV threw me) with a history of multiple TBIs as a kid.  Then I was in a minor car accident (rear ended at a stop light - ironically, by a weight loss doctor who was texting) so I probably have some damage to my endocrine system.  Yay!  I'm on a quest to find a doctor that doesn't brush me off with "You're 50 now.  You have to work harder."

I'm also hypermobile, and I would love to lift free weights but don't trust my joints to not randomly pop out, so I stick to the machines.

Working out at the gym (treadmill, weight machines) every other day and then doing kickbboxing or yoga on the days I stay home.  Walking in the morning on the weekends.  Trying to just eat whole, unprocessed simple foods like eggs, vegetables, fruit, nuts, meat and fish.  I make my own bread, which cuts down on the eating of the bread because it's work now, and it's better quality anyway.

You can sync it to numerous devices, I have mine syncing to my Galaxy S5, iPhone and iPad, just make sure you use the same account

They also store several days of data, can't remember how many off the top of my head, so as long as you sync at least once every few days then you should not lose any data
