I've been talking with a FitBit friend about the challenges of good self-care on a daily basis not just as a response to crisis. I saw an article today on a healthcare website and thought why not plan THIS staycation with as much attention and care as a real vacation and then do it! Soooooo, I challenge some of y'all to plan a staycation like the one below.
You have to be deliberate and intentional. You have to make it an act of love and care for you and whomever you choose to share it with (or just yourself)! Make it something you do with mindfulness and then post about how it made you feel. Did it improve your day? Did it help your health? Did it change your outlook? Did it matter to you? Did it make you laugh? Did it make you cry? Did it matter to the person you shared it with? Will you do it again? What was the most significant takeaway?
Here's what the article said (if you need ideas):
Explore the world from your couch.
You can take virtual tours of many of the world’s most impressive castles and finest museums. Once you pick a location to visit (online), keep the theme going by fixing food from that country and listening to some of its music. For example, spend a couple days in virtual Paris. Visit the Louvre Museum one day and the Palace of Versailles the next. Make a quiche or slice up some exotic cheese to eat with a baguette and some fruit. Be sure to toss any French words you know into conversation throughout the day. Oui oui!
It's a challenge to be completed by Midnight Sunday, August 30, 2020 (whatever time zone you're in). Let's see how good you are at taking care of yourselves!!!
Thanks. I actually did it! I planned and executed a whole day in Greece after reading the Kat Makris series by Alex A. King. I made souvlaki, listened to Greek music, and pretended to sit on the Greek beach by sitting on my deck in the evening eating my meal after watching as much coastline tours as I could stand! It was a whole lot of fun! Did you try it?
Best AnswerI found this challenge very late, but I am very glad that I was able to discover it at last. I have been looking for such an interesting pastime for quite a long time so that it would be useful for my health. Now I can try it too, thank you very much.
