Did you mean:

You know you're a Fitbit addict when...

  • You pace the house to get to a particular figure before going to bed
  • You sit down when recharging as you don't want to 'waste' any steps
  • You park further away from the shops to gain extra steps

You know you're a Fitbit addict when you're sick in bed and spend the day looking through Fitbit discussion boards.

I have an addiction ..to food ..love it ... I have replaced this with another addiction kilojoule (calorie) counting and my fitbit. I record everything I eat and everything I burn. ie energy in/energy out. OK I'm an engineer, can't help myself.

I decided I needed a way to lose weight and still be able to occasionally enjoy red wine, beer, chocolate, fast food and dessert. The "trick" is record everything. No cheating! Then monitor what you need to do counter the extra energy intake.

So far so good .. 11kg weight loss in 6 months.

My tools are fitbit, Diet Diary App, zeroing scales and dietitian.

@V1CK1 OMG YES!!!! and more:

You know you're a fitbit addict when:

  • your boyfriend and you get into fights over steps
  • you do not just stand and brush your teeth anymore but walk up and down the stairs like an ocd mad woman
  • you insist on walking everywhere in the city even when your friends want an uber

You jog in place while you are brushing your teeth.   2 minutes on the electric tooth brush twice a day.   I get 500-600 steps :-).

@MarcM I walk the hallway and up and down our steps as well. Helps pass the monotonous 2 minutes two brushing. I also do the same thing while I mouthwash-up and down the steps twice is about 30 seconds! My roommates think I'm absolutely bat**ahem** crazy.

I was at my sons footy training last night stepping left and right, it was freezing cold too. Not sure if the others there thought I was trying to keep warm or busting for the toilet 🙂

I am a proud Fitbit addict, and I exhibit everyone of the symptoms listed above. More symptoms:

I know exactly how many steps it is down my driveway, over to my brother's house, and even around my living room. Not to mention the number of steps between my bed and the toilet. Yes.

On very cold, rainy days I drive over to grocery store, Home Depot, Walmart, Target, the library or the museum and walk up and down every aisle or corridor until I've logged 2 miles. (No shopping mall near my house.)

I push the grocery cart with my non-Fitbit hand so I don't miss steps.

I let my brother's dog out 2 times a day instead of just once, because 1395 steps and 3 flights of stairs, that's why!

I give directions in number of steps instead of mileage. (Okay, I haven't done that one yet, but it's just a matter of time.)

When getting a notification the battery is low while just getting tired to go to sleep. Waiting for a charge, otherwise missing out a sleep report.

When looking at the tracker / aria reminds on keeping getting healthier / fitter / stronger every day (and encourages to do so). Smiley Embarassed

This thread started December 2013, and I'm just finding it now?! So many good responses.

I've been known to hop on the treadmill for a brisk walk because pacing about the house would have taken too long.

How many do they walk?

Don't forget the dogs and cats.

@Gershon  I put my HR on my older boy's arm and he walked 25,000 in a day! They are always active, now my question is, is that accurate?  I mean, the tracker was under my settings and he is only 5 years. old. Smiley LOL

Vivis,

I have a Zip. Sometimes, I wear an inexpensive "other brand" to check the accuracy. They are both accurate on steps. I don't know about the HR.

The settings shouldn't affect the number of steps.

To answer your question, I suggest trying it a few days and see what happens.

Every night my husband and I compare our step numbers to see who walked the most each day. I alwasy walk around in my bedroom until I round off my numbers to the next hundred.

You know you're a fitbit addict when.....

I am competing in steps with friends and I'm always in fifth place.  Lisa, Dominique, Maria, and Les are always ahead of me, leaving me in fifth place.

Well......I finally got ahead of Les and of course I taunted him. Once I was able to get in front of Dominique, and that didn't last long.   I'll never catch up with Lisa because her job requires her to do an awful lot of walking. But today.....I finally took 3rd place in front of Maria.  And you want to know what I was doing when I realized I was so close.....jogging in place, running up and down the stairs, folding clothes and marching in place, seasoning the spare ribs for barbecuing and moving my body, walking around the house.   It won't last for long....but I can at least say.......caught ya!

Sincerely,

Lovin my FitBit

You know you're an addict when you won't go on a walk and hold hands with someone with the Fitbit hand.
