My PC connects to the internet and loads the dashboard, but when syncing, the message immediately pops up and says "no internet connection is found."

I just ran into this problem on Windows 7. I fixed it by installing a new version of the Fitbit Connect app:
1) Go into Control panel and uninstall the old version
2) Download the latest version from https://www.fitbit.com/uk/setup
3) Install the new version and make sure it's running
4) Just wait. I didn't need to do the Set up a New Device, and trying to Sync Now didn't work, but after 10-20 min I can see the dashboard has updated with new data

Thanks! Your directions worked. After I uploaded the new app, it immediately showed my steps for the day, and the dashboard showed the steps for each day of the week, including the days that I could not access before. I am now one happy walker.
