I did an update to Fitbit One Firmware 6.64 per the instruction of Fitbit due to an error I was having turning the fitbit on. After I did the update, the fitbit will not turn on at all. Occasionally when I connect it to the charger, it will say 6.64 and show a full battery level, but every time I take if off the charger it will not even turn on at all. I have tried the reset process and endless amount of times and off the charger it will never turn on and it will only turn on occasionally on the charger. I followed the instruction of fitbit and totally deleted the application, created a new profile and started from zero, which they advised me to do to ensure I have the most updated firmware. Well, after that the device will not work at all and I cannot get anywhere with customer support who advised me to follow their process. Anyone with any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Unfortunately I did not buy directly from Fitbit so they do not have a record of my purchase. They did look through my app account and said that from that activity they see it would no longer be under warranty. In the end they have offered me 25% off the purchase of a new one. I had hoped for a cure for my One but it isn’t there. I liked the one because it fits in my pocket but that’s gone and the Zip is out of stock right now. Which one did you get?

@Lyndskirby82 Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to share the situation you experienced with your One. Thanks for contacting customer support regarding this. I'm really glad they sent you a replacement device.
Please try these replacement set up steps for you to not loose any of your previous data once you receive the new unit.
@AndyinBC I hope you're doing well! Thanks for sharing the outcome you had with customer support. Feel free to check the Fitbit Store for more options of Fitbit devices.

I just purchased a new One and did the update upon setup. It will not start (yes, I did the hard reset more times than I can count). Should I just return it or is there a solution to this problem? (I should mention that the same thing happened to a One I purchased yesterday and this is the replacement to that device with this same issue.....)

I am having the same issue. Fitbit One syncs when it's hooked up to charger, shows the software number on charger, but it will not turn on or do anything when it's not hooked up to the charger, sigh.

For sure contact customer service. Let them know there are many of us with the same issue. If they offer a discount on a new purchase, ask to buy the Inspire HR. It can be used with a clip or in the pocket. Hopefully they will let you buy one. They told me they they would not discount the Inspire HR, even though it’s the only one like the One. Good luck.

Funny how they want you to spend $69 on a tracker and then have to spend another $19.95 and pay $4 shipping on a clip because stores don't sell it.

I am having the same issue. My old Fitbit quit working. Someone gave me a new one and it would not work off the charger so I ordered a new one. The app recognizes the new one and says it is fully charged but the device will not track and won't light up off the charger. I now have 3 Fitbit Ones that don't work!

Bought a new Fitbit one as a back up last year and just took it out of the packaging and followed the set up and it does not work either...Shame on you Fitbit this is totally unacceptable.

So knowing that we all have Fitbit Ones, why won’t they provide the discount on the only product like the One?

Mine is doing this too. Is it totally dead or is there a way to get it to come back on?

@HurlyGirl when Ones no longer turn on and only display the shaded in, the battery when in the charger, your battery is most likely dead 😞
The batteries only last around 3-4 years.

@Kimberd1 If your One is showing charged outside of the charger, you should be good to go! Since you've got 3 Ones it's possible the one you're trying to set up isn't the one associated with your account. If you go into the app and add it as a new device, it will delete the old one and should start tracking again. Your Ones that are not turning on outside the charger likely have a dead battery. Fitbit no longer makes these units, so if you want to repair, you'll have to DIY. Hope you get the working one tracking again!

@Symbalady You were able to buy a new One from Fitbit? I was under the impression they've not manufactured them for a few years. What did support say?
Many people purchased "new/old stock" ones from 3rd parties, which may technically be new in the package, but from their age, come with dead batteries.

@rhanson if you've already tried resetting it and it still only shows a false full battery when in the charger, your battery is most likely dead (another possibility is the battery wire has separated from the circuit board, though much less likely).
The One battery can be replaced, however, it's not like sliding a battery door open, it involves warming up the case and soldering wires. This is what I did as mine was sitting like this for nearly a year and figured what was there to lose? Cheers!
