Fitbit One Will Not Turn On

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I did an update to Fitbit One Firmware 6.64 per the instruction of Fitbit due to an error I was having turning the fitbit on. After I did the update, the fitbit will not turn on at all. Occasionally when I connect it to the charger, it will say 6.64 and show a full battery level, but every time  I take if off the charger it will not even turn on at all.  I have tried the reset process and endless amount of times and off the charger it will never turn on and it will only turn on occasionally on the charger. I followed the instruction of fitbit and totally deleted the application, created a new profile and started from zero, which they advised me to do to ensure I have the most updated firmware. Well, after that the device will not work at all and I cannot get anywhere with customer support who advised me to follow their process. Anyone with any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I have the same issue.  In my case, I had my One in my back pocket and I sat on it during an exercise routine.  It was fine when I started working out but when I was done, it hasn't worked since.  That was about 2 - 3 months ago.

I've been trying to get it working again to no avail.  I don't want another device because I like the portability of the One.  I guess I'm old school.....

I am definitely not under a warranty so I don't know what else I can do at this point....

@reenactment if display only turns on when in charge cable then your battery is dead. You can read the article in this forum on how to replace it or buy one from eBay. Cheers!

@Smartiee you have to replace your tracker. The Inspire is Fitbit's newer version that's supposed to replace the One and Zip, or you can find an out-of-warranty one on eBay.

The Inspire doesn't count stairs. Don't waste your money on it.

@IHaveAOne Correct, you can't charge a dead battery. Because it's dead.

I’m having this same issue. Battery says fully charged when plugged in but once taken off the charger nothing happens. I’ve tried to reset it multiple times but still nothing.

If anyone finds a fix, such as a way to roll back the last update, please post the solution here.  One thing I am trying, is to allow the battery to discharge completely by leaving it alone for several months. Then I will try to figure out some way to make it think it is new and use its onboard firmware.  It would be nice if Fitbit would produce a legacy model of the pocket One (with stair counting). Then I could donate my inspire to someone who wants it.

Replace the battery or replace the tracker.

@almatl you can't rollback firmware updates and we wouldn't want to, the latest one improved syncing and battery life. If your battery is dead you'll need to replace it or your tracker won't work.

Have just found my device that was still boxed & has never been used. I have the same issue when trying to set up. It only turns on when plugged into charger & flashes Fitbit 6.64, full battery, but won’t turn on when disconnected. Has anyone found a solution to this issue or did the upgrade break it?

I received the fitbit one as a gift and I literally took it out of the box today. It prompted me to update it and now it won't turn on unless it's connected to the charger. I already tried the resetting of it and it still won't turn on. Please tell me how I can resolve this issue. Maybe another update or a firmware fix? Thank you for your time.

I wish you luck.  If you find a way to rollback the firmware update, or get a newer update than the last one that seems to have obsoleted the fit-bit one, please post the information here.

I am having this same problem.  I, too, have tried the restart and all the recommendations.  Really frustrated with the lack of performance of this product.  Please let me know my next step to get this resolved.

The consensus throughout this thread is that the update drained and killed the battery... thanks Fitbit! The only suggestion seems to be try to put in a new one, which seems easy... but sadly the only suppliers of these are VERY dodgy sites in the Far East. Don’t risk it with dodgy EBay batteries. So what can you do? Buy a new Fitbit. I would no longer touch Fitbit with a Bargepoll. Good Free apps available on Android!

Really? Improved battery life by killing the battery?

I have a fitbit one with exactly the same issue. 6.64 and full charger when plugged in - but nothing once I unplug. I’m able to sync it for a moment and then it’s dead. If I plug back in - it says full battery. But when I pick it up there’s no response - not sure about it... might just be garbage? Any help?? Was hoping to get stepping again.

Along with, apparently, many others....I have a Fitbit One that shows "Fitbit 6.64" when plugged in, but does nothing when unplugged.  Is there some way to bring this thing to life? As far as I know, the device I have has not been used, and I'm just trying to set it up.  But it appears unusable.

Fitbit never replied to my original post... so I figured my Fitbit was probably garbage. 😞 Hope since yours is new - that you find a solution.... let me know if you get somewhere with it!

I am experiencing the same problem as of two weeks ago.  Not sure what the problem is or if my battery is actually dead and if so how do you replace these.

@TRCN Fitbit isn't likely going to respond to your posts, at least here in this member-supported forum, though they occasionally have a moderator peek their heads in. If you have problems with your tracker, you can detail them here in this forum for other members (not Fitbit employees) to possibly help you, feel free. Most of the issues with the old Ones are simply that they're old and their batteries are dead. Amazingly, they'll keep functioning if you replace it, which can be done.
