Fitbit One battery leaking issue

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I found my fitbit one after being lost for a year and when I tried to charge it, nothing happened.  Is it dead?  I also noticed a little Grey oily substance on my carpet where I was changing it.  Is a this battery leak?  If so, how do I clean it up and dispose of it properly?

Hello @FitgirlCO1 and welcome to the Help forum.  I'm sorry that no one responded until now.  This forum doesn't get a lot of reader traffic.  I don't know your location, but many countries/areas have specific rules for rechargeable battery disposal.  Check your local area rules for lithium ion battery disposal.  My US county has s specific hazardous waste drop off site.

@FitgirlCO1 if you share more specifics including what's on the display and perhaps more about this ambiguously appearing liquid (preferably just share a photo of it charging if uncomfortable articulating the particulars) and we can better answer as to if it's dead. I've serviced hundreds of Fitbits and have never encountered a leaky liquid. Fitbit's contain Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries, they use a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid electrolyte. You've not shared where you're located. If in the states, you can drop off LiPo devices at a Home Depot, in their "Call to Recycling" bins at the entrances.
