Fitbit One not syncing anymore (rest seems to work fine)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

my fitbit one isn't syncing anymore since last friday april 23. Everything else seems to work fine. I can charge it no problem, it is showing steps and all that.

I have a pc with fitbit connect, and it doesn't sync, but neither does it sync to my iPad and iPhone, which used to work fine (until apparently last friday) (I of course know about the need of BT etc... being enabled).

I have been on a holiday from sunday until now (wednesday evening), and I have walked a lot (and beat my previous step records), so if I have to restart the fitbit one (as read in another topic), does that delete the data that hasn't been synced so far?

thanks in advance,

Winny

A couple of people posted instructions from Fitbit customer support to plug the tracker into the charger, hold the button down a specific amount, etc (scroll down in the posts to find these exact instructions). I followed the instructions and my tracker started to sync again. Was able to retrieve data from the days prior, back to 4/24 when it stopped sync-ing. It was pretty simple, and as far as I know, the correction held.
Thank you to those people who posted the instructions. Hope they work for everyone else.

what steps did you take?

I've done the troubleshooting steps from the Fitbit website twice, still no luck

turned my bluetooth on my iPhone 6 off then back on 3x, uninstalled then reinstalled the app 4 times in conjunction with bluetooth off/on, no luck

Also can't sync via dongle - tried again today, it sees my fitbut, says it's syncing, then on dashboard it says I haven't synced in awhile, asks if I need help

What exact steps did you take?

tried the steps you described - no luck

"Customer service eventually gave up and said they will send me a new teacher, told me to recycle my old one. Well guess what? Tonight after reading everyone's posts I had to try if again. I turned off all Bluetooths in the house , forced tracker to turn off while plugged into charger, turned it back on, turned my Bluetooth back on and opened the Fitbit app. Tried "add new device" and By golly it synched!!! My activities from 4/25, 26,& 26 Mon, Tues & Wed are gone but Yesterday 4/28 and today's is there!"

I cannot remove device from the app - warns that all un-synced data will be lose

Tried to add/ replacement Fitbit with same Fitbit One, when I get to the part where it's 'looking' for the Fitbit for which it will sync, the 'please wait' wheel spins and spins - cannot see my Fitbit.

I'm sure Bluetooth is on again, tried 3 times.

When will Fitbit fix this?

My husband has a Fitbit one and iPhone, having no trouble.  Why are some of us having trouble and not others?

Just called Customer Service, they asked: had I plugged into the charger, re-started the Fitbit, re-installed the app, turned bluetooth off/on, etc

they asked me for my email address

Returned and said that my Fitbit is out of warranty and offered me 25% off a new Fitbit

I said there's nothing wrong with my Fitbit, works fine, trouble is it can't sync with either computer or phone.

Rep said they know there's an issue with syncing but only solution they can offer is 25% off new Fitbit

That stinks - have to spend another $100 on a Fitbit One because they can't resolve their software issues.

How many people in the Community are holding Fitbit Ones that are over 1 year old?  Bet a lot of folks

If everybody who has a Fitbot One that's out of warranty went and replaced their Fitbit due to this trouble, imagine the amount of money Fitbit will make.

For all they money they already make, you'd think they could correct their software - why am I throwing out a working Fitbit when the issue is software?

I had to do the restart and mine is working so I am assuming it is due to a upgradegree. Try the plugged in reset. It didn't lose steps.

OK, back at this today.   Restarted the Fitbit twice with charger plugged in to USB/computer.  The I did a restart on the PC.  It synced!!!!!  No data was lost!  Yippee!

Who knows what will happen tomorrow.  We all just have to hang in there and hope Fitbit fixes their software issues.  I am not buying new one.

Good luck to everyone!  I will keep watching this board topic.

I have been trying to sync my One since April 8. It doesn't want to sync. This is the first time I have been able to really look for help. I am so frustrated. I can not find where you are suppose to click on sync. The wyfy has not worked the whole time either. I have left it plugged into the computer. Can any one help me with this.

You need to have the Fitbit app on your computer.  If it's there, it's probably in the system tray near the clock (mine is at bottom right of my computer screen, click on the little white arrow/triangle, shows me my printer, plus see the Fitbit logo).

Click on the Fitbit logo, select Sync Now

Make sure your Fitbit is plugged into the charger and into the computer, and also that your Fitbit Wireless Dongle (the little 'other item' that came with your Fitbit other than the charger)

You'll be told to click on your Fitbit to make sure the display lights up

Should start syncing

Hope this helps

Hi Nancy,

Thank you for your help in this. It still is not syncing. But I did find the app where you said it would be. It just keeps on searching. Then it does take me to a place to update ck and troubleshoot. They really do not solve this. I am thinking it is not working because I have Windows 7.

Thank you again,

Kathleen

My One appears to have stopped counting my steps on April 18th.

Nothing shows in the app on dashboard.

Tapping the fitbit, it would not register a step. So I did the plugged in reset.

Now the taps register, but all of the data is gone. Battery was at ~33%.

Seems like there was an app update around the time it stopped counting???

My FitBit One had not been syncing with my computer or iPhone since April 28.  I followed your advice of turning off Bluetooth on all my devices - iPhone, iPad and computer - and it worked for me.  When I tried this before with just turning the Bluetooth off on my computer, it did not work. Thank you!

Called HelpLine 877-623-4997.  They had me turn off my i-phone and also reset my fitbit by hooking up to my charger in the USB port.  Hold the button down for approximately 12 seconds.  Then push the button again.  Mine said Fitbit 6.60.  Then it synced pretty much right away!  Hope this helps you and everyone else.  Mine had last synced 4/30.

My fitbit suddenly stopped syncing last friday 4/29. I just called customer service after going through all the steps in the Fitbit help with no success. He walked me through basically the same thing and a few new things. Still couldn't get it to sync so there sending me a new one. Kind of a pain but at least there's no hassle getting a new one. I'm happy.

Everyone -- Have you tried the troubleshooting tips listed here? If you have and you're still experiencing issues with syncing your One, please answer the following questions:

  1. When was the last time you were able to sync?
  2. What mobile device are you using to attempt the sync?
  3. What OS version are you running on your mobile device (Android 5.0, iOS)?
  4. Are you receiving any error messages?

Please share screenshots if available as that is always helpful in further investigating your instance.

I've had the same issues over the last several weeks.  It's not recognizing my One despite the dongle being plugged in.  Initially it would synch if I plugged it in and restarted it with the charging cable, but even that didn't work yesterday.  I went to my downloads and basically had to reinstall the program - twice now, but that has done it!

Very disappointed in feedback about Customer Service.  Never had trouble over the years and I am not tech-savvy.  Hope they get it together, it's a great product they've developed.

My FB One hadn't synced since early April. This is what I eventually did to clear it:

1) Reset the FB using the plug into charger, hold down button for 10-12 seconds, remove from charger and then press button again until FB comes back on method.

2) Turned all-day sync off, then forced a sync (icon at bottom of screen.)

This seemed to do the trick, after a wait of a few minutes, the FB synced again and it had retained all the data from the last sync at the beginning of April.

I've left all day sync off - I wonder if there is a bug with this element of the software.

Hope this helps someone save a bit of time.
