Fitbit One "shutting down" and not tracking.

Has anyone else had issues with their Fitbit One seeming to "shut down" and stop tracking? It started a few weeks ago, once every few days at first and now it is happening several times a day. I have to push and hold the button to "re-start" it and then it turns back on but any steps made during the downtime are lost.

I have contacted support, they gave me troublshooting (which did not work) then offered 25% off. I don't understand how something that is clearly a product issue isn't covered.

Hello @rocket_patty,

Welcome to the community!

How are you wearing your One?  I seem to remember accounts where this may happen if you accidentally short the two charging terminals... and strangely enough, this may happen if you put it in the clip upside down (button toward the 'open' end of the clip).  This may also occur if you simply carry it in your pocket with coins and/or keys.

I would try this to diagnose... charge it and after it's fully charged, put a small strip of Scotch Tape over the terminals.  This will prevent your terminals from getting shorted.  Report back and let us know if this helps.

I hope this helps.

I support @PureEvil 's suggestion. It's the only cause of this I've come across.

I would also just like to add that customer support tend to offer a 25% discount as a goodwill gesture if there is a product fault but you are out of warranty.

I'm having the same problem and it is absolutely not any kind of short. Happened last night while sleeping with it in the wristband. I can assure you it wouldn't come in contact with anything metal while sleeping. It happens every few days and is really annoying.
