Do you put it on a nightstand that has anything that may impart movement? As oscillating fan? Next to a heater or air conditioning vent? If so, that's likely what's causing the steps. There have been accounts of this occuring.

HI @bsjtweth. Driving adds calories because you burn more while driving than if you were sedentary. But it's negligible; whatever calories burned were reported, you have to keep in mind that it includes your BMR (i.e., the calories you burn for sustaining life -- heart and lung functions, etc.) So the increment you received for logging driving as an activity won't count for much relative to your total daily burn.
