Fitbit alone not syncing my exercise

Hello all. I recently traded down from a ChargeHR to a Fitbit one (refurbished). I was used to it syncing all my info at one time (step, HR, exercise, etc). However, I am finding with the One I am having to manually put in the information that is showing on the One into the App. I hit the button before I work out, it blinks with the stop watch and it seems to be working on the devices side but it won't sync the workout. Just wondering what might fit this problem.
In cause you are wondering, it DOES sync the steps, miles, floors, and activity level, just NOT the exercise!

I'm finding that about 50% of my manually entered activities are not synching.  And I've had the ONE for probably 4 years, this is not usual.  After entering them on my iPhone via the app I get "not synched" in red and when I try to synch I just get the same message.  This seems to be a recent and prolific problem - when is the fix FitBit?
