Help fitbit 4.14 and fitbit 4.46

Well I simply don't know where to turn to. So I'll try posting here. See if anyone can help.

I had an ultra for quite sometime now and then I dropped it in the toilet. It didn't work for about a week so then during that time I didn't know if it woud come back to life, so I emailed customer care saying it dropped in the toilet. They gave me a Fitbit One.  Mean while my Ultra came back to life later because I did the rice trick. I figure it's still good and i'll use it. I'll use the FitBit One if my ultra poops out or whatever issue.   My ultra had been acting funny lately. It doesn't want to display steps, miles, calories, date any more when I push the botton. It still syncs in all I just can't see anything on the screen. I figured hey I have a FitBit One in my closest so I poped it out and decided to use that instead.  I go to use it and try to set it up....I get "FitBit 4.46". Tried restting several times and still had the same issue. I went back to my ultra.  I wrote customer care and they claimed that the warranty was out of reach. i get it,but why does that error pop up? Customer care explained that water damage caused my FitBit One to act like this. The thing is---it never was opened, no water touched it. Unless Fitbit customer care is stating that they got water on it prior to sending it to me in which case they should replace it for FREE.   It was like pulling teeth with customer care really. They could not help me.  Probably the worst customer care I have ever received.

I bought an Ultra on ebay from someone for a cheap price. It has been working for 2 weeks. It let me link it to my account. On Sunday last week I tried syncing it to my computer, I got "Fitbit 4.14". I jiggled it around on and off the charger finely got it to sync. It again kept flashing that.  I tried resetting it and all that jazz. same issue.

My question would be why am I getting 4.46 on my fitbit one AND fitbit 4.14 on my ultra?   does it have to do with something on my computer? it's annyoing. I am ready to flush my fitbit down the toilet for good.

The numbers you are seeing aren't error codes, they are the firmware version that each unit is running.  They will be different numbers.  I hope this helps with part of your question.

I think that some of your wonky behaviors from your Ultras come from the fact that these devices do have a lifespan (exact length unknown).  I'm not sure you can bring them back to full working order.

The Fitbit 4.46 that you see on the Fitbit One is the firmware version that that unit is running.  But that is not the current firmware version.  Mine is running version 60 -- you didn't miss 14 updates, it went from version 46 to version 60 in one update.  When you tried to set up your One, did you go past the 4.46, or did you stop at that point?  Continue with the set up.  If you are setting it up on your computer, there is a choice on the Fitbit Connect to "check for updates".  Not sure when you will see this if setting it up on a smartphone.

I'm sorry I can't give you details on the order of doing things -- I set up my One on my computer three years ago.

Good luck.

thanks LZeew for the info. I know the Ultra is old, but I like it. I don't like want any more watches to wear on my wrist. I already wear a clock watch, plus have a regular Garmin watch for when I run.

About the Fitbit One, I could not even get it activated. It just get flashing 4.46 when I tried to get it to link to my account. I tried multipe times to reset it, take it out of charger, put it back on....still flashing that.

The 4.46 is displayed during the bootup process.

As @LZeeW says this is not an error but a version number and is telling you that the reset was successful.

i assume you are using a computer, first go-to fotbit.com/setup and download the latest software, the ultra software will not work.. Unless you have a smartphone, you could use this.

You want to either use the fitbit connect or a phone to add the tracker.

With what type of device are you trying to attach the one to your account.

Since your question is about the One I've moved your post to the correct area. Just follow the link in the email.

Hello @PastaLuver14 @LZeeW @Rich_Laue! This is odd. The Fitbit One's firmware 4.46 (as this has already been clarified by @LZeeW and @Rich_Laue) is really old! This tells me that you may have received your tracker quite some time ago? If this is the case then did you store it in a dry place (I believe your did but it never hurts to ask)? This may be a factor if it applies to your case. Still the only thing I could suggest is that you try restarting your one again by doing the following:

1.- Plug your charging cable into your computer.
2.- Plug your Fitbit One tracker into the charging cable, making sure that the gold contacts on your tracker align with the gold contacts in the inside of the charger.
3.- Hold down your tracker's button for 10-12 seconds.
4.- Remove your tracker from the charging cable and press its button until the screen turns on.

Let me know how it goes!

@AlvaroFitbit my thoughts are that the one is not setup to the account yet, i say this because if it was it would be trying to ate the tracker.

@PastaLuver14 this article is about setting up the tracker.

Usually when you know your fitbit is linked to your account, you'll get the successfully activated and to put a greeting on the FitBit One, I never got as far as that. I tried holding down the button to get that special number to type in...all I got was that flashing 4.46.

I'll try to do an update on it,if it'll let me. AlvaroFitbit- yes I did store the FitBit One in a non-liquid location. I don't think customer care understood that part even though I told them straight up. Which it was in the box not even opened yet.  I saw in another thread long long ago that if a fitbit ultra is left unattended for a very long time and you come back to use it, it can indeed flash 4.14 (the ultra that is). Maybe it's the same with the FitBit One.....Maybe they just don't like to be left alone for so long.

@Rich_Laue I did get that the tracker wasn't setup but it never hurts to clarify and this is also why the tracker shows an old firmware.

@PastaLuver14 Sadly if it is outside the warranty period there isn't that much Support can do for you. They sometimes have the option to offer a discount if you are interested in this possibility you could try letting the know about this. It is up to them to provide one but I don't think it would hurt if you just email them explaining your situation.
