Today I walked 30 minutes on treadmill. My Fitbit showed me that I climbed 12 floors.
I have the Fitbit less then one week, I am still not completely familiar with it. I would appreciate help. Thanks.

Welcome to the Community @Cvrcek! Besides those 30 minutes on the treadmill, did you do any other exercise or activity?

Let me explain you how your Fitbit calculates floors.Fitbit trackers that count floors have an altimeter sensor that can detect when you're going up or down in elevation.

Though your tracker is designed to look for pressure changes based on elevation gains, pressure changes due to other causes—such as a gust of wind, a weather change, or opening a door—can occasionally cause your tracker to register an extra floor or two. Another factor is floor height. Your tracker registers one floor when you've gone up about ten feet, which is the average between residential and commercial floor heights. If you climb long staircases you may find that the tracker's floor count doesn't match how many floors you've gone up since the staircase was taller than ten feet.

I would like you to keep an eye on the floors tracked by your One, if the activities you are doing shouldn't give you many extra floors, let me know and I'll see how to help you out. Woman Wink

Hi, Thank you for your reply.
Beside the treadmill I didn't do anything extra, just running all day long about the house and organizing things.
This morning when I woke up I realized that I "climbed " stairs again 😴 while sleeping.
I am open to any suggestion.

Ups, I posted my reply twice.
This morning I realized that I "climbed stairs" while I slept.
Just now I returned home from driving around the town. I looked at my Fitbit and to my surprise I climbed stairs 7 times!!! I did go 6 times in and out of my car but still..???? This is getting more and more strange and annoying.

Thanks for your reply @Cvrcek! hmmmm sounds pretty weird that your One is recording floors while you were sleeping. In this case the best solution is perform a restart of your tracker by following the instructions on @13Odyssey post.

I guess that while you were driving, besides the floors, you got steps, right? if so, let me explain you why, because your tracker recognize some movements as steps when you are driving in a car with a stiff transmission or on back country roads. So perhaps that was what happened.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi HeydyFitBit,

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Since my last post my Fitbit behaves - no more climbing stairs while I sleep or getting in and out of car. I have no explanation for it, I didn't restart it or do anything else different in my daily activities. Right now all seems to be ok, but I am going to save your suggestion for future need.

Thanks again. Cvrcek

Thanks for your reply @Cvrcek! Sounds pretty cool that your Fitbit One is not giving you extra floors anymore. If in the future you note any weird behaviour with your tracker, you can perform the mentioned restart.

If you have more questions, let me know! Smiley Very Happy

Mu One is doing the same thing....I climbed 7 floors while I slept, and over 90 floors yesterday....I I don't think so! I tried resetting it, but the problem remains. I have had my one for a coup,e of months, but the incorrect floor count started a couple of days ago.

I am sorry to hear this. My One is now behaving well.
When I had the problem, I didn't reset it, I just logged out and few minutes later logged in. But I suppose it didn't do the trick, I was just lucky.

Hi @dmrgbb it's great to see ya' around! hmmm this is pretty weird, but if you already tried to restart it and still giving this huge amount of floors without you climb them, I suggest you something else, on @AlejandraFitbit post, you will find instructions to set up your One as a new device by using an Android device.

Let me know if that works!
