Is Fitbit One being discontinued?

For the second time in a year I lost my Fitbit One.  When I go to replace it, I see the major local stores, Target, Walmart, Best Buy no longer carry it and even on Amazon, only the black model readily available.  Is the Fitbit One being discontinued and if so, is it being replaced?

I am not sure how to make a new reply in this thread without replying to another person's post.

I bought my Fitbit Zip in January of this year, and I have had nothing but battery problems ever since.  It's driving me crazy.

I've been in touch with customer support and after everything else that I have tried, I have an offer of a replacement or a discount off a new tracker.  I want the One instead.  I had meant to buy the One to begin with; when I bought my Zip, I had forgotten that the one existed.  I was going to completely return my Zip within the 45 days and then get the One instead (after having multiple battery issues), a week before that time was up (mid February), I unfortunately lost my Zip, finding it again in May.  I replaced the battery right away, since it had been so long.  More issues.  I finally had to replace the battery again again Aug 21st.  Other than these battery issues, I do love my Zip.

I decided to contact customer support again. I read a lot of reviews on the One this morning and was set to order my (discounted) One and I see it is STILL (I have been keeping tabs on it for weeks) on backorder!  Then I found this thread and I am so frustrated by the news and I feel like I want to cry....

The Fitbit One is PERFECT and I really wanted to have one... I am not sure if I should order a new, full-price One now or not.  I've checked everywhere online (except eBay but I have never used eBay before) and they're gone except the double prices on Amazon (no thanks).

I feel for everyone on this thread.... I am feeling the same!  I don't want to wear anything on my wrist, I rarely wear anything on my wrist, and a clip option is perfect for me!  The One sounds so amazing and now it is being discontinued :'(

UnderArmour purchased Fitbit?  Hmmm.

I want the One but I don't want to fall in love with it and never be able to get one again :'(  Such distressing news.

It's on back order in the US. In Australia you can't buy it at all.

I don't see anything on the Web about Under Armour acquiring Fitbit. Lots of speculation that they might want to.

It looks like the Zip is getting harder to find as well. I really don't want to wear a bracelet or necklace while I'm working out.

I'm very disappointed. I have purchased 6 Fitbit Ones over the years for myself and for family members. I have tried your wristband models and found that they are not accurate  -  logging hundreds of steps while riding in a car, logging zero steps when pushing a shopping cart and under counting severely when I am carrying something or otherwise not swinging my arms in sync with my stride. The Zip is missing functions that are important to me. Please consider adding floor tracking and sleep monitoring to the Zip or reintroducing the One.

The One was a great product and I really like your app, but none of your other currently offered products meet my needs.

Fitbit if the One is discontinued.

Exactly. Me too.

I already own an Apple Watch, and in theory, I can track exercise using Apple Health. I will do that rather than start using some different tracker.

I'm DEFINITELY not going to buy a wrist-based tracker, when I already have an Apple Watch.

Amazing how companies remove their most popular products and shoot themselves in the foot in the process. Lots of competition out there. Smiley Frustrated

So, who else makes a tracker similar to the One? I don't want a wrist tracker.

Folks I truly think FITBIT may just be phasing the one out and will have an appropriate replacement.  The fitbit ONE is five years old and technology has changed. These are past firmware upgrades. So again lets hope they are just doing what they have been well known to do over the years and keeping some secrets and surprises for us. It would be hard for me to believe they will totally drop the anchor product. Lets all keep our fingers crossed. You have to look at how many phases of the clip on there was in a short time before the ONE became the clip on we love.   XXXX that is my fingers crossed. I hope they do not disappoint me LOL

Craig, all well and good to hope.  But it's positively ridiculous to announce that it is being discontinued, without also announcing that there will be a replacement.

UNLESS of course, greed is the factor and the company is hoping to gain income from people hurriedly buying other products as replacements rather than waiting to see if a replacement is offered.

Not really ridiculous.   I have used fitbit since they first started selling in early 2010, We didn't know until they were released that we were getting the Ultra, The One, The ZIP or the Force. They just showed up in the store one day and emails went everyone saying look what we have now

but who/what to use?

I don't want to but a wrist one, detach the band, get a clip like the magnetic one I currently have for the One, as that would be a total waste, unless they drop the prices drastically and I really do not want to go back to the Zip

Hi, @dragonheart13, if you feel that the Fitbit One is the best for you, and you are in the USA or anywhere that it is still available from Fitbit, I would suggest going ahead and ordering it, even though it is on back order and destined to be discontinued.  It may take some time, but I think Fitbit wouldn't take your order if they weren't confident of fulfilling it.  The Fitbit One, as many others have noted, is very robust and reliable and likely to last you several years.  By then there may very well be a replacement device that you like just as much.

Fitbit will continue to support the One and it will continue to work with the Fitbit apps.  You can be quite confident ordering it now.  That is certainly what I would do if I were in your position.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

I found a retailer on Amazon, but there is a continuing price creep. It is near $200 per unit.

@Chris92057, you can still order from Fitbit at half that price, but you will need to wait, as it is on back order.

I have one backordered from Fitbit, but I am dubious that I will receive it. The backorder time has been 3-4 weeks for the last 3-4 weeks.

It is ridiculous.  The One has a devoted user base as it is really the only one of its kind - since inception.  I had used nothing BUT the One since I bought my first one several years ago, until I was forced to buy a Flex 2 due to my One being stolen and being unable to buy a new one.   If they know they are discontinuing a one-of-a-kind product, and know that they are going to have a newer version, it would do nothing but improve their bottom line to keep people in the dark.
