Lost Fitbit One, want to set up new Fitbit but app won't stop trying to syn

Help!  I lost my Fitbit One and bought a new FitBit Charge. I want to sync it to my account but when I log into that account it won't stop trying to find and sync with my old (lost) Fitbit.  I've unplugged the base, force-closed the app and done everything else I can think of.  I have a bunch of friends set up on my Fitbit account and really don't want to set up a new account.  Is there a way to stop this attempted sync with my lost device?  Thanks!

Hello, Thank you for your quick response and assistance. I have tried to do this several times and every time I click the button to set up a new Fitbit I get a response that says "Sync in progress please wait" as it looks for my old/lost device. Everything seems completely frozen. Thanks!

Try to  set it up as a replacement, using these directions - click so your history is retained.

You have to delete you old device in setings...pick your old device and scroll to the bottom.  You should see Remove This One.

Hello,

 

Thank you both for your assistance.  I think that something is wrong with my device and profile, though.  When I try to remove my old device or set up a new device I get an error message telling me that the app is trying to sync with my old/lost Fitbit.  There doesn't appear to be any way to stop or override this.  I've logged out and in over and over again, tried to force stop, uninstall and reinstall, remove the dongle, you name it.  I truly do appreciate the help!
