Lost my One

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Be careful! Mine popped off my pocket on my jeans - waistband one and I lost it in grass last week. Didn't hear/notice till I got home! 😢Apparently I'm not the only one this happens to. Fitbit didn't care about helping me out - they offered a measly discount on a new one and cannot "deviate from their procedure" by supplying a discounted one without all the charging cables or even one that has been returned under their money back "guarantee"! Not a happy customer. Especially when two different people told me that when they lost theirs they were "happily" sent a replacement by Fitbit!

Hello @NordicCarol,

I'm sorry that this has occurred to you, but I know that Fitbit has changed their policy regarding lost Fitbits...  In fact, replacing lost Fitbits hasn't been the policy for some time now (years?).  Honestly, I agree with Fitbit's policy.  Having been on Fitbit for five years, I know many folks with Fitbit, and as you might expect, a fair number of them have lost their Fitbit.

With the exception of one person (among about a dozen), everyone I know who has lost their Fitbit and has made an attempt to find it, has indeed found it.  I know a handful of folks, who knowing about Fitbits (formerly) generous policy, never bothered to look for their Fitbit...  "I'm not going back out in the rain, I'll just contact Fitbit support; they'll send me another one."

Having said all that, we can make some suggestions about how to narrow down your search to help you find it, how to minimize the chances of your losing it again, and if you do lose it, how to increase the chances of return.  Let us know...

I hope this helps.

@NordicCarol

If you have a smartphone (or a friend with one) you might want to look for an app to locate lost fitbits. You might get lucky and find it.

I did find that the fitbit popped off my waistband a number of times so I always clip onto my brastrap or on a pocket with the fitbit inside the pocket.

Thanks. Think I replied but just in case. I didn't know about this. So will check it out.

@NordicCarol, the Gadget (built-in) app on my phone (Lumia 950) will show you when and where you last connected to the phone:

In fact, you can even get directions back to that location...  and there are other ways to narrow down your search.  You never responded that you wanted help (maybe you posted just to vent), so I never posted.

Sorry... I think I've replied to the wrong address!

Thanks for the tip. I was venting, true! Frustrated and grumpy - guilty as charged!

I am going to store this info once I've had a go... trouble is I hadn't synced it for a bit. I was happy with just knowing my stats and got a bit lazy on the syncing. My bad. So I don't know if it will help on this occasion...but it is worth a shot...

Anyway Fitbit are sending me a new one and I'm going to be far more careful with that one!

So many thanks again.

🙂

@NordicCaroldid you ever restart it?

Try a restart. Do it at least 3 times.

@NordicCarol,

Now that you're getting a replacement, may I make a couple of suggestions...

First, make sure that you wear it in a way that is secure.  I put it in a 3d printed holder that I got for $10, and wear it as a pocket watch.  Even if it should slip out of my pocket, it's still attached:

Second, label your tracker.  Even if you should happen to lose it, the finder can contact you when they find it:

Among my friends and I, we've had four happy returns.  Smiley Very Happy

I hope this helps.

Thank you. What good ideas. I love the idea of labeling it. Should've thought of that...
Will check out the pocket watch idea too.

Many thanks for your kind comments and suggestions!
