New Fitbit one

My Fitbit flex stopped working yesterday morning so I went and bought a new Fitbit one.  I have synced this morning but there are no steps showing for yesterday even though I wore it for the afternoon and evening.  Anybody have any idea how I can get those steps back at all?  I am on a challenge with work at the moment and don't want to lose any steps.  Thank you for any help/guidance that anyone can give.

If you don't set it up it Will not sync your steps. So yes you lost them.

Thank you for replying. No I didn't set if up before wearing it as I had already lost half a days worth of steps. Does this mean I have lost them all from yesterday ?
