RATE FITBIT QUALITY AND SUPPORT

To be honest, this is a pain to write comments that won't be seen by nary a soul, but being upset from the continued poor quality of the device, specifically the fact that of the three FitBits I had, the watchbands are the worst.  Then you have to pay through the nose for another inferior quality band.  I've had problems now and again where the FitBit chard 2 disconnects from the app and can't figure out how to get it back...  Usually after a week it fixes itself, but it does not give me any confidence that this thing works worth anything I paid.    Most recently I let the battery draw down for a week.  When charged it again would not reconnect, no matter what I did.  Calling from help really proved the poor tech support that told me not to waste any more $$ on this brand.  Sorry..  sometimes the truth hurts...  so fix it.

Now I buy all replacement bands at e-Tailers... 7-15 bucks, and that's for metal or leather, not some cheap ineffective plastic that breaks at year 1.3.   The cost of the plastic bands I'd estimate at about 12 cents, add another 5 cents for packages and another 5 cents for transport to retailer and 8 cent for reasonable 30% profit nets a total cost to Fitbit of 30 cents.  (I used to be a consumer goods manufacturing engineer).  Anyway, cost to you?  30 Bucks retail (20 on sale!!   WOW!!  rip-off.

Buy on at any e-tailer, and get 3 times the quality, 3 times the life, at ⅓ the cost.

ALSO, Service is not good.   had a fitbit problem and the tech guy couldn't figure it out.   Could not tell me what software or firmware revision I needed to be on, thinking that was the issue.  He couldn't tell me but said it was ok...  DUH!!   what kind of comment is that?   I was chatting with him and finagling with the App/Fitbit-Connect, and discovered how to see the Rev. Version, and asked if he wanted to know how to answer my question on Revision...  he didn't so I didn't teach him a basic task he should already know...   zero stars for that..      after about 10 minutes he concluded that I needed  a new fitbit, and mine was out of warranty, so he said they would send me an email with some coupon options...  sounded good...  BUT IT NEVER CAME!!!   When I called back I got nothing.    another Zero Stars.

After a very poor experience, I swear, never again.  no more FitBit for me.   I fell into the marketing Hype.. (WOW  "FIT" and "BIT", COOL!!!!   I'll buy 10!!!)    Anyway...  I kept working at it myself, and figured out how to connect the FitBit to my account all by myself, and now its working and on my second watch band purchased at e-Tailer for 10 bucks....  half their sales prices!!   BTW, I figured out all by myself how to re-PAIR the device to the account...  a feat Tech support should be able to do in his/her sleep.   Apparently he/she was, but still could not do it.

The website is slow and clunky, looks pretty, but is pretty ineffective....  no easily visible SEARCH field is shown... so lots of mouse clicks to find the cheese.

overall..   LESS than ½ STAR RATING

@Starkist I can see you're frustrated. Outside of occasional moderation, this is a member-supported forum, if you have specific issues you're needing some help with. Respectfully, you're complaining about a device that was discontinued several years ago and if it's still working well, then you're basically stepping for free, and it's cool Fitbit allows us to use our antiquated out of warranty devices. I'm unsure what you're referencing about your One's "chard 2" or if you meant to share you have a "Charge 2" tracker in addition to your One? That's another nice but discontinued model. Fitbit has never made a band for the One, they're only available from third parties and aren't incredibly accurate as they're designed to be worn on the wrist.

I'm unsure how you've calculated the build-costs of your replacement bands for a device that traditionally isn't supported with a band, I'm aware there are websites that detail manufacturer's cost of materials, but in a case like Fitbit it wouldn't include their infrastructure back end servers, marketing, support, etc., just materials.

I'm unsure about the specific reference to a representative requesting you to share the firmware version you're running with them but it's an honest question they probably asked to help you troubleshoot.
The website hasn't changed much in years, I did value their premium services previously when they were web-based and this is why I'm no longer a member of that particular service. The rest of the functioning is mostly the same. The friend's list is broken but you can see your friends from the app if this is what you're missing?

Keep smiling and keep stepping! 😎
