Secondhand Fitbit One

I've got a Fitbit One which i was given with no accessories or charger. I've bought a charger and charged it and i'm trying to do a factory reset on it as i can't pair it to my phone.I'm assuming that's because it's still registered to someone else so i'm trying to factory reset it following instructions on the website but it's not working. 

With it connected to the charger, after holding down the button for 2 seconds i'm removing the device from the charger and keeping the button pressed. When i then let go of the button and press it again it just starts the stop watch? No "ALT£ and no white flash. What am i doing wrong?

It does not need to be reset. Just set it up and it will take over for you.

As I said, I can't set it up because I can't pair it. If it doesn't need to be reset how else do I get it to pair?

Look on your phone under Bluetooth and try to pair it there

Call the help line, they are very helpful & will sort your problem. I think that only they can do a factory rest.
