Steps count and activity steps added together

My One shows I have done, for example, 5600 steps, and 15 minutes activity.  The steps for the activity, walking, are included in the step count.  When I sync the data onto my mobile, using IOS, it then shows a step count of around 8000, having added the steps count number and the activity count number together.  How can I prevent this happening every time?  I know the 5600 is correct because at the moment I am checking the One against an Omron pedometer.

@Landlubber Welcome to our Community! I would like to know if you are logging another activity through the app of if you are using the GPS mode on it to track your activity? Do you see multiple activities on your account? Could you share a screenshot of your activities and the totals for that day on the Dashboard?
