Trouble with Fitbit connecting to Internet to sync

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I too have had numerous problems with my internet connection - I did notice that Fitbit has a new promotion today - WOW let us run out to buy more problems, if you catch my meaning. I would suggest that the engineers spend a little more time on fixing the errors that have occurred with the internet and Fitbit software.  All  recent post are from the several people that are having problems with their connections and syncing their Fitbits.   Who actually wants to have to Google the Fitbit.com to be able to access the dashboard?  Not me, but that was the suggestion from Fitbit customer service that I received.

I will gladly give you the Fitbit customer service number so you can call them and listen to the line they gave me.  877-623-4997.

Not really sure I understand the issue. If you can reach the Fitbit servers by logging into the website the issue is not on Fitbit's end. That would be a faulty/weak data connection with your mobile device which could have many causes.

That can't be the problem.  I sent my log into customer service because I can't sync but I can access internet on desktop pc without any problems, so no weak internet.  Any other suggestions, since customer service has no clue.

I am having the same issue. I've been a FitBit user since 2012. Only in the last couple of days has the FitBit Sync on my computer no longer worked. I get the "No Internet Connection" error. I've tried re-installing FitBit Connect multiple times...taking out the Dongle, putting it back in...etc. I am only able to sync with my smartphone now which is not necessarily what I want nor ideal.

It must have to do with an update that was implemented.

Same issue with me. Running Windows 7. I completely uninstalled the Fitbit Connect software from my pc, then downloaded the latest version from the website. (which appears to be newer than the "update" available through Fitbit Connect) All I had to do was enter my password. Was able to sync and dashboard caught up with all the missing days.

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually running Windows 10, but your tip provided me with at least another thing to search for. So, if you're running Windows 10, here is the solution that worked for me.

1) Go to the Windows "Store" - just search "Store" in the <Search Windows> bar at the bottom left of your screen.

2) Log into the "Store" (Note: If you haven't done this before, you'll have to create an account.)

3) Search for the FitBit App in the Windows app Store.

4) Download it and then Uninstall FitBit Connect completely. Note: You can no longer use the "old" FitBit Connect once you download the fancy new FitBit App for Windows 10 computers.

5) You can sync via the new FitBit App for Windows 10 on your computer either via bluetooth (if your computer is equipped) or the Dongle method like you did with FitBit Connect. My computer doesn't have a bluetooth, so I continue to use the dongle.

6) The new app for your computer gives you a lot of info that is similar to what is also on your smartphone app but also additional info like what is on the regular dashboard version. And you can still go to the old dashboard via the normal route if you prefer it.

Why this sudden "change" isn't intuitive for longterm users is unfortunate, but at least it does allow you to sync again! Hope this helps those who are frustrated.

Are you serious about this trouble being within my computer. Had my
computer checked out and I was told it is Fitbit problem. Also Fitbit
customer service said Fitbit was having connection problems for several
days so let's get serious.

Svhettenbach, I understand your frustration entirely. As I indicated earlier, I think it's a problem with the FitBit Connect program. That's why I ended up downloading an updated program for FitBit that seemed to have solved my problem. If you don't have Windows 10, then try the suggestion by @drwillis for earlier versions.

I agree that the issue isn't with your internet connection, but I don't even think this is an issue with FitBit's connection. I think it was an issue with an update that occurred with FitBit connect that may have caused the program to no longer function correctly.

Good luck!
