I took my fitbit in the ocean last month. Put it in rice for a long time. Followed start up instructions and now it is on and can track steps but only for 30 minutes at a time, then it charges off. Also, before soaking, the charge symbol was a bright green when full. Now, the green appears to be cross-hatched, much fainter. I have not yet rinsed it off in fresh water, maybe I should try that. But I thought the charging pattern was strange enough to post incase anyone else has seen that. I really miss my fitbit.
