I work 3rd shift so I sleep in the afternoon and my day starts at 8:30pm. Is there any way to set your Fitbit so it doesn’t reset at midnight?

Unfortunately, the midnight reset is fixed and cannot be changed. There is a popular feature suggestion to allow it to be changed for night shift workers and if you'd like to add your vote you can find it here:

Note, though, Fitbit's comment that they don't currently have plans to make this change. Perhaps with more votes they may reconsider.

OK I can understand that it needs to reset at 12am but why can't it allow you to put in 2 separate active periods for me that would be 6pm-12am and 12am-8am then at least it would be expecting my active time while I'm at work. That can't be too much for them to do to accommodate 3rd shift workers

Hello @Luckylucy1664 and welcome to the Community.  The hours must be consecutive and this is the basic programming of the feature.  I don't know how much is "too much" when it comes to programming, but Fitbit seems to have made up it mind on this.
