Auto Exercise Stopped on Charge 4

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Charge 4 has faithfully auto-tracked exercise for nearly 2 years.  Last week Wednesday it stopped auto-tracking exercise.  The same thing happened on my wife's Charge 4.  I suspect this is related to an upgrade as we both belong to the beta-AFib testing program and think new software was pushed to our devices last week.

In other forums, noticed people suggested shortening the 15 minute auto-detect time.  I'll give this a try but note that my Charge 4 faithfully registered activity since I bought it two years ago.  In addition, my walks are usually 30-120 minutes, quite vigorous as well.  The Charge 4 has simply stopped recognizing activity.  Steps and stairs still counted, but walks and other brisk activity not auto-registering.

Hi, @Howard47 , whenever your Fitbit is not behaving as expected it is also a good idea to give it a restart.  Instructions are here . A restart can solve many issues.

Thanks for "REBOOT" advice.  Yes, REBOOT while connected to charger did not enable auto-exercise.

Still suspect possible beta-AFib update coincides with both of our Charge 4 watches seeing the auto-exercise problem for the first time in 2 years.  Hopefully the FitBit programmers are reading this forum, and can comment.

When I submitted my 1st message, my FitBit was not auto-recognizing activity.  The auto-recognize had been set to 15 minutes.

Two days ago, I set auto-recognize to 10 minutes and amazing, activities were recorded.  So yesterday I set the auto-recognize back to 15 minutes and once again, no auto-activity recognized even though I logged over 20,000 steps.

Something changed with the software in the last 2 weeks.  Today I have set auto-recognize to 12 minutes and I'll report tomorrow if any auto-activity is registered.

So auto-exercise worked when set to a 10 minute trigger.  In my last message I indicated I would try 12 minutes today.  After some brisk walking over several miles, auto-exercise did not recognize the activity.

So I have now set the trigger to 11 minutes to check this setting.  For the last 2 years, 15 minutes as a trigger worked just fine.  But something has changed.  In early message I guessed FitBit software changed as both my wife's Charge 4 and my Charge 4 are exhibiting the same, new problem.

I'll report back after testing the 11 minute trigger point for a while.
