Battery with ! after using any function even on full battery

I keep getting a Battery symbol with ! exclaimation if I use any function like walk, run, turn on/off notifications, sync.

 

Even on a full charge, when i go to sleep, the next morning, i get this battery with !.

 

How do i fix this?

I've seen this problem twice. The first case was a brand new Charge HR and the second case was a year old Charge HR. In both cases, the only thing that helped me was to let the FitBit charge a really long time (at least a day). In the first case the Charge HR lasted about a year after that. In the second case it only lasted a couple months before the battery totally died.

 

Another suggestion that is usually given for this sort of problem is to reset the FitBit. That did not work for me, but apparently other people have had success.

 

Also, cleaning the contacts is a good idea- to make sure it is actually charging. I think ! means the battery is badly drained.
