I noticed the night before that my fitbit charge 3 screen had a vertical line on the screen before charging. This morning the screen won’t turn on. I have tried to restart it and have tried to hold the button down for 15 seconds and change the watch face and still have a black screen. Any ideas as to how to fix or if probably the screen has gone out?

Mine has done the same thing in the last 24 hours. It was at 65% charged late yesterday afternoon. It started buzzing and going crazy then kaput. No charging is happening despite being connected to the charger. No green light on the bottom. It is very strange.

I am having the same issue myself. It started last night. And I have done the same thing you did to try resetting it but it is not working at all. It shows that it is still attractive in the app on my arm but the screen continues to be blackened. It is still vibrating on the set alarm in the morning. It even gave me my sleep score too. Still experiencing black screen. Does anyone else has this problem currently or had the same issue in the past???? What did you do to resolve it????

Same problem since last week. The screen / face is black, but it is still syncing. I can’t get it to restart. There seems to be a lot of people commenting on this same issue. The problem is always with FitBit - they take forever to fix a problem or claim There never was a problem and just repeat things that don’t work.

Just had an online chat session. Here's what the nice lady gave me for instructions:
Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker.
Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable.
Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds.
Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable
Connect the device to the charging cable. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration. The device turns off.The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.
Good luck!

I’ve got the same problem. It’s syncing everything and alarms and notifications work, but I can’t see them
Apparently it’s a known issue
ive gone through troubleshooting and it doesn’t work

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, that is not working for me. I've tried holding the button 8 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds and the screen is black.
How did you get a response from FitBit?! I've made so many requests.

This is how they sucker you into buying a new one, by rolling out a firmware update the randomly destroys the screen by 1. Remove a vertical rater line, 2. Remove a horizontal raster line, 3. progressively dim the screen so it it unreadable except in a cave, 4. Just blank the screen altogether, who cares, these suckers love us.
Best of luck, Fitbit no longer offers customer support, just paid mods who's sole purpose is to deflect. I hope they are paid well.

Wow, I had the worst experience with customer support! All they did was read through their script and when I said this was not working - they just said too bad, here's a 25% discount. No attempt to solve any issue!

Hey @volsgirl5 , did this work for you?

In the last year Fitbit has done away with the following:
1. Customer Support
2. Quanity Control
3. Testing of Firmware and Applications
Sorry you got ripped off, too. Maybe try another brand.

Thanks for your help!

I have tried all of that and still have a black screen. The strange thing is that the night before I noticed that there was just a verticle line of pixels on the screen before I charged it. I’m thinking the screen is simple not working anymore but everything else still does. The Fitbit still syncs with the app

Try changing clockface in app. It worked for me!

I have the same issue as a lot of you. Black screen, tried all the plug in, hold button (for assorted times), take out of charge and hold button, plug back into charger etc. According to my phone I have also managed to change the clock face. Still a completely black screen. All the stats are available via the phone or tablet, but not on my wrist, and no quick way to check the time! Still charges though I have to rely on the phone or tablet to tell me how much life is left in the batter.

I've tried everything and now requested a refund/replacement...it's almost impossible to read the time let alone the rest.
The Charge 4 is out 🤔
