Calorie count messed up?

I'm just confused as to why my forgot says like I've lost 3000 calories but when you go and look at the heart rate it says I've spent 3hrs in fat burn zone and lost 356 calories.

2 factors:

1. Fitbit includes BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just by being alive, that usually account for more than half the daily calorie burn.  For more on this see:

How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

2. Don't assume that the only time you are burning calories is when you are in one of the exercise zones.  Most of your waking hours you are burning above your BMR calories but below the fat burn zone.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I have a Charge 2 and use a stationary bike.  The fitbit gave me a very erratic reading for calories burned this morning:

Last few days:

25 Jan: 1 hr, 6 min max, 42 min cardio, 11 min fatburn, average HR 118: calories burned 479

27 Jan: 1 hr, 0 min max, 34 min cardio, 25 min fatburn, average HR 109: calories burned 414

29 Jan: 1 hr, 27 min max, 25 min cardio, 8 min fatburn, average HR 125: calories burned 526

Relatively consistent so far.

This morning:

01 Feb, 1 hr, 27 min max, 24 min cardio, 5 min fatburn, average HR 120: calories burned 244

I would have expected 500+, based on the 29th.

Does anyone one know what is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks
