Calories and steps

I have the dashboard on my iPad and one app on the same iPad and another on my phone. The dashboard shows steps but both apps display calories. The dashboard and apps all respond to steps made with the Fitbit but I cannot get the apps to display steps. The main goal is set to steps on each but the display is In calories. The display uses the set  calorie number to monitor progress against using the blue circular ring. If the tArget is reset To a different number of calories, so is the blue ring. I can also display in kjoules by changing the units. I have tried uninstalling the app, turning Bluetooth on and off, turning the iPad on and off, electronically disconnecting the Fitbit from the iPad and reconnecting it but have now run out of ideas. I used to use an Fitbit charge 2 and the problem has only just occurred while transferring to a Fitbit charge 3. I think the answer may be an obvious one but I cannot see it. Can anyone help?

Solved. You need to turn off the displays on the today tab of the app (edit then delete) and the target changes from calories to steps.
