Can't fix step count problem

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Made the mistake of wearing fitbit while riding my horse and ended up with over 30,000 steps. We have tried everything to edit or delete this count but so far no luck. The clear data function did not work and had no luck trying reboot. The product is useless if there is no way to correct incorrect data. Solutions??

See How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Aside, I get a kick out of all the ways people say a fitbit is useless because they can't get it to do one particular thing.

"useless" would mean a watch, stopwatch, countdown timer, silent alarms, relaxation app, notifications, heart rate monitor, etc  all have zero value if you cannot correct step count.  Are those others all really totally "useless"?

If you are trying to use the product as a fitness tool the accuracy of the data is essential. The other functions are not really why we bought the product. We tried the instructions provided in your link but we were not able to make data corrections.

So you tried this procedure

How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?

  • Fitbit app
    1. Tap the Today tab

      .
    2. On the Exercise tile

, tap the + icon > Log or Log Previous.
    3. Choose Driving as the exercise type. Make sure the exercise details overlap with the time period your device logged the unwanted steps or floors.
    4. Tap Add or Log it. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

And it  didn't have any effect on the step count?

Did that but with bicycling. It added the bicycling distance but the steps remained unchanged in spite of the time and day overlap. I should point out however that we were trying to correct an activity from a few days prior. Perhaps it would work on the current day but that was not what we were trying to fix.

Manually adding an event called bicycle will not remove steps.

Only driving or motorcycle will remove steps and extra calories.

You can add the event for anyday. After pressing the plus, first choose the day.

Driving or motorcycle were not given as options for activities on the charge 3. Is there a procedure to add them?

You just follow the steps exactly as I gave them above.

Just enter "Driving" as "exercise type" in the example @Rich_Laue  showed above.
