Can't setup brand new Charge 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello all,

Yesterday I bought a Charge 2 and since then I am trying to set it up. I've read most of the posts about this topic and tried everything but unfortunately nothing works.

- When I attach the power cable to charge the Fitbit, it vibrates but it doesn't show a battery icon. The only thing I see on the screen is the little phone icon and the text "www.fitbit.com/setup". Is this normal?

- I have tried to pair the Charge 2 to my phone (Sony Xperia Z3) using the Fitbit app on the phone and followed the setup steps. However, after typing in the 4 digit code and waiting for a while it shows the "Not working?" text with options to solve the problem. I tried those a number of times but it still does not work. Also I restarted my mobile a couple of times, turned oft and on Bluetooth many times, etc.

- Since setting up did not work with my phone I downloaded the Fitbit App to my Windows 10 computer but the same thing happenens, I can't setup!

- I tried to find a description how to factory reset the Charge 2 but it turns out, there's none :(.

I am very disappointed, irritated and desperate. I hope that someone can give me a solution. Please help!! Thanks in adavance.

Regards,

Linda

The bluetooth on my laptop is working, on one occasion that I chatted to the customer service, they helped my update my bluetooth driver to ensure that wasnt the issue, however to complete this update I had to restart my laptop and  lost the connection with that support person, so I am now in the long slow process of communicating via email.

I just tried turning all device in the house off and completing set up with just my laptop but still no success.

I think I might just return it, three days so far and I cant even read the time on it!!!

What operating system is your laptop running, and how fwr do you get in the setup process

I get up to the part where I pair the tracker, it displays four boxes, some numbers come up on the tracker, I put them in the boxes and then I get the error message that 'an issue occured whilst pairing your tracker'

The support person helped me to complete a bluetooth upgrade so that shouldnt be the problem, I am running with windows 10, pre installed in purchase

There is no Bluetooth device on in the house except my laptop, which is a Dell running Windows 10 but I still get the error message when trying to pair, despite the fact that the computer does show it as paired properly. I tried shutting down the Bluetooth on the laptop and downloading the app on my phone instead (a Windows phone) but when I tried to set up the device on that, there wasn't even a Charge 2 option! I'm out of ideas now and I'd have to say that at this stage, if anyone asked me about buying a Fitbit I'd say avoid it like the plague as it's simply crap!

I am getting the same thing, all I see on the screen is www.fitbit.com/setup.  Was this ever resolved?

Hi... I was offered 25% off a new Fitbit. So they were not able to resolve it. They wouldn't send a replacement as they said they already had replaced it once and feel they did all they could. I told them no thanks.

I got a brand new charge 2 and it got through pairing but then it said final step was to update but battery was too low to update. I plugged it in and it vibrated but the screen of the Fitbit kept showing the "www.fitbit.com/setup" screen continuously scrolling. Will it still charge if it's doing that?! If not how do I get it to charge so I can finish pairing?

Yes @Audgepodg3 that vibration you felt tells you that it is charging. The display will not change until the firmware is loaded.

I agree with all those who are struggling to set up their new Fitbits. There's nothing more frustrating than getting a new device that you're excited about using, but then not being able to do so because the setup instructions are incomplete, confusing, even wrong. I don't understand why Fitbit doesn't make it really easy to use their products out of the box. I also don't understand why they don't provide top notch help for when we run into problems. I'm a techie, so when I run into such problems, I believe that the problem is with the product instructions, not me.

Maybe i and everyone around me have the wrong phones. Of the many 20+ relatives, and another can't count how many friends, setup has been as easy as pressing "add device" then follow the simple prompts.

I entirely agree - I have never seen such an inept start system.

I have had this device as a gift and though I have various pcs running what are supposed to be compatible systems (e.g. windows 10), I cannot get it to install on any system I use.

It is as far as I am concerned a complete waste of time and money.

Hi Linda,

I'm having the same situation like you had after a year later :).

Customer support said I need to charge it at least 1hr and recommended to charge 2hr. And the battery icon will not appear since it is not set up yet.

So, I'm wondering you solved the problem? and how?

I received a charge 2 for Christmas . My old charge HR fell apart. Actually it was the second HR that fell apart. I can not get my new one to activate. I tried customer support but they said it was my computer. My computer is on the compatible list. I went to my friends house and tried their new computer but still no luck. I get to the point where it tries to add new devise but then the entire process disappears. I do not have a smart phone or tablet. any suggestions. This should not be so hard.

It took a few times to connect. Let it fully charge the night before. Also remove the old charge from the list .

fisherman, the fact that it is your husband means nothing to Fitbit, they don't care.  However, your husband will always have to use your email address when he logs in to Fitbit if you set it up under your address.

My comment is to have patience, & give it a lot of time to fully charge.  It seemed like it was critical for the battery to be fully charged before the set-up procedure would complete.
