Cannot Sync 2nd Hand Charge 2 with any device

Hi all,

First time poster and first time fitbit user.

I have inherited a Fitbit Charge 2 from my daughter in law and simply cannot sync it to anything.

I have tried Android, iOS, Windows 7, Windows 10 and Kindle (which I think is a form of Android?).

On each device, it will see the Charge 2, start connecting to the point that the 4 digit code is entered, then nothing.

We have restarted it, tried connecting when it is in a cradle etc, not sure what else we can do?

If the DiL had it registered to her account, does it need to be removed from hers?

If it is still attached to your DIL's account, you can still set it up. I'm constantly switching accounts or giving trackers to relatives. I leave them connected so I can see if they receiver was able to set it up.

You will need her to remove the charge 2 from her phones Bluetooth.

If the phone is nearby and turned on, failure to remove would could give you problems n setting up. It also would mean when she is around you might be reading her notifications.

The win 7 computer needs a Fitbit Bluetooth dongle.

Only some Kindles are able to sync

Win 10 needs built in Bluetooth.

You are using the Fitbit app to setup the charge 2 and it is not connected to your phones Bluetooth..

Thanks Rich,

DiL is about 50 miles away so unlikely that is the cause of the issue! However, will pass that on...

Win 7 has a fitbit bluetooth dongle, same happens.

Fair enough re Kindle, not sure what type i have

Win 10 also has Bluetooth.

That the charge 2 is not connected to the bluetooth is the problem? It sees it is there, but wont complete the process - asks for the 4 digit PIN which then appears on the fitbit but wont proceed further. Am i missing something?

When setting up a tracker through the Fitbit app, the user does not want to use the phones Bluetooth. We don't even care if the phones Bluetooth can even see the tracker.

If the tracker is a trusted device on the phones Bluetooth, then the Fitbit app will not be able to see the tracker. Your last paragraph confuses me. If trying g to connect directly to the phones Bluetooth you should be seeing an error saying "Rejected by the Charge 2'.

I think I would remove the Fitbit app, clear the phones cache, .restart the phone, Android still has memory management issues, and install a fresh copy of the Fitbit app. Yesterday's update is the first update that has worked for me this year .

The worst that will happen if she doesn't remove the Charge 2 from the phone is that you may receive her notifications when she is nearby..
