For the last month, at least eight times my Charge 2 screen just randomly goes totally dark and can't be seen. I went through all the advised procedures to reboot etc. to no lasting solution. Finally I discovered that if I go to a very dark room I can just barely see the menu system to get to Settings. There I can see the setting has been changed to Brightness Dim. If I set it back to Brightness Normal it will work for a few days before randomly restting to Brightness Dim.
The weird thing is in Settings > Brightness there is only Normal and Auto. But if you set it to Auto it immediately changes to Dim. As others have noted Dim is essentially totally dark unless you go into he darkest room and use your best eyeglasses. It's new behavior so I assume the designers rolled out an update that causes this problem.
<start rant> Fitbit just continues to disappoint. Besides this brightness issue, I've noted that Fitbit has removed much of the functionality from the app without replacement. I think the brightness settings were once there. Many other app features are either gone or moved behind their paywall. Also Notifications has apparently been disabled. There is a menu item but clicking on it doesn't go anywhere. This is my second and definitely my last. Apple has got to be better. I'll use this until the pain gets to be too much, and then hello Apple Watch. <end rant>
