I have walked 7500 steps today and the km is showing as 2 km   I hadn' realised that this is incorrect till I discussed with a friend   is there something wrong with fitbit or just setting issues

@Soumyadv Hi and Welcome - sorry to hear your steps look to be incorrect with distance,

Have you set up you stride length or have you left it at standard, I will go through the procedure and a benchmark for you to try but you will have to adjust for your own height and stride,

1. from the PC dashboard go to the cog symbol on the top right and click

2. find settings and click this will take you to the personal info page

3. Set you height ( im 5ft 6 as a benchmark)

4. under advanced settings you will see units (I have mine set to feet and inches (Miles), stone and Millimetres) but you can chose Centimetres, pounds or Kgs, fluid oz)

4. now scroll down to stride length (its near the bottom ) and click on edit

5. check the setting if its auto see if it correlates to your stride - alternatively click on set your own (this will bring up 2 boxes)

walking (mines 27 inches)

Running (Mines 34 Inches)

once done click submit at the bottom (once done you may have to log out and back in again for the changes to take place

from mobile platform enter fitbit app then go to account>settings>scroll to units(change as required)>scroll to stride length change as required, and back to dashboard

Hope this is what you need

Kind Regards

Wayne

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Soumyadv! Additionally to the great information that my friend @ashwolve has shared with you, keep in mind that Fitbit trackers calculate distance by multiplying your walking steps by your walking stride length and multiplying your running steps by your running stride length. By default, we calculate your stride length using your height and gender.

Since you have a new Charge 2, track one or more runs using connected GPS, we evaluate that data to automatically update your running stride length. For best results, run at a comfortable pace for at least 10 minutes.

If your distance measurement seems inaccurate after double checking the above information, follow the steps below to calculate your stride length and then add it to your Fitbit account.

  1. Go to a track or some place where you're sure of the distance.
  2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
  3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way if you run instead of walk.

To adjust your stride lengths using @ashwolve's directions. The stride length fields are in the Body Info section. If you use the Fitbit mobile app, go into the app and turn off Set Automatically under the Stride Length setting.

Once this has been done, don't forget to sync right away to make those changes effective. Woman Very Happy

@Dannyshlds Hi , this may not really help but have you checked your profile and made sure your pace distance is correct and not been changed back to the default setting, other options could be are you using the auto exercise detect function this could delay the count as opposed to starting run manually, also does the route map show correct (either connect to phone or if available use the gps) another point could be either loosen or tighten the strap or wear slightly further up the arm during exercise these all have a slight impact on the accuracy the link below may give some more ideas

@MarreFitbit  can you add anything further

Hi.

I've had the same issue since November where I regularly run 5km but it only shows as 4km or less. I also have it linked to Strava and this also shows 4km. All my settings appear to be correct. It was fine before November 2019 so can't see what the issue is.

Thanks,

Craig

Also, maps only show occasionally and not every time. These are usually right when they do show so it does recognise the route I take just not the distance. I make sure I manually start the run on my Fitbit every time.

Thanks
