Charge 2 is suddenly over counting steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I noticed a sudden increase in my steps on my Charge 2 about a week or so ago, in which my steps had gone up by some dozens or hundreds after I was sitting reading (or even while sleeping) and had perhaps gotten up and moved just a few steps into another room.   I would soon have 1000 or more steps after a morning of inactivity.  Yesterday, I activated a brand new Charge 2 that I had on hand, thinking the original one was perhaps just kaput after 2.5 years. The new/newly-activated one is doing the exact same thing.

Again, this started a week or so ago.

@triziab Welcome to our Fitbit Community. I totally understand how you feel about the increase of steps issue that your Charge 2 has experienced.

Please restart your Charge 2 as described in this help article. After this, check out this help page, which explains why your Fitbit device may track extra steps.

Finally, monitor your tracker and see if the issue gets fixed.

Hope this helps.
