Charge 2 tracking sleep while not wearing it

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I wear the Charge 2 to sleep and take it off in the morning when I wake up. For more than a year, it tracked my sleep accurately. Lately though, it consistently tracks 1-2 hours of extra sleep after I have taken it off. For example, if I took it off at 8am, it will track my sleep until 9-10am.

This is frustrating because I’m not getting accurate sleep measurements. My heart rate sensor is set to Auto and I don’t want to have to turn it off and on. I have tried restarting the device and it hasn’t helped.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @dividedsky727, hope you're doing great! Woman Very Happy  Hmmm... Have you checked if your heart rate setting is set to "On" instead of "Auto" or even "Off" when you're not wearing it?

Sometimes the Charge 2 can't detect you have taken it off, and it sees what it thinks is your pulse. This is can be explained in this article. Note that if you remove your tracker but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket or backpack, the tracker may display an erroneous heart rate reading. And there are some factors that can affect the heart rate readings. And as you may know, sleep stages are based on your heart rate. You need to record heart rate to calculate sleep stages. If you turn off heart rate, your sleep logs will go back to the classic style.

Prevent this by turning off heart rate tracking when the tracker is not in use, log into your dashboard and go to Settings > Devices to turn your Heart Rate Tracking to "Off."

However, I recommend performing a restart on your Charge 2

Give this a shot and let me know if your tracker keeps tracking your sleep when you're not wearing your Charge 2. I'll be around!

Something similar happened to me. Twice this week I forgot to put my Fitbit back on after showering and left it on the dresser all night. Both nights, I got a full recorder of sleep with all the stages. It makes me question the accuracy of it when i’m Actually wearing it.

I am still awake (Wednesday 12:52 am) and I went into the sleep log and it's already given me a full night's sleep till 8:08am for Tuesday's recorded sleep. I'm still wearing it.  What is going on?
