I’m having the same problem! I’m killing myself working out and it says 80 bpm. Just got a new replacement Fitbit 2 3 days ago.

Hey guys, @SunsetRunner and @Goldengirl78, welcome aboard! I'd like to ask you something, are you using the SmartTrack feature (the one that automatically tracks your exercise) or are you using the Multisport (which is the one that has the exercises on the Charge 2 itself) to track your exercises? If you are using the first one, have you changed something on your settings, for example the minimum duration of the exercises and that is why they are not being recognized?

By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

I cannot get it to report active minutes. I reset it, does correct for a while, then reverts back to not performing correctly.  Now it won’t reset at all.  Thoroughly disgusted.

going to look around at other companies and consumer reports.

No, I am not using the smart track. I set it to start tracking a ‘walk’ as soon as I start my workout.

Hey @andreab27944, let me give you a warm welcome aboard! If your Charge 2 doesn't seem to track your active minutes, let me explain to you exactly how active minutes so you have that into consideration.

Essentially, active minutes are a measurement of time spent doing activity that is more intense than regular walking, which includes everything from a brisk walk to a cardio workout or run. To learn how you earn active minutes, I would like you to review this help article: What are active minutes?

If after reviewing that information, you still experimenting inconsistency with your active minutes, as you have read in our article, our algorithms detect subtle differences in exertion that may explain why two seemingly identical activities result in different active minute totals. For example if you took a brisk walk along the same route two days in a row, differences in your speed and exertion levels (e.g. out of breath vs not out of breath, etc) will cause different active minute totals for the two activities.

Because our trackers primarily track movement through the use of an accelerometer, they more accurately detect active minutes for step-based activities (brisk walking, running) than non-step based activities or activities that require more than steps (yoga, tennis). Trackers with a heart rate monitor detect active minutes most accurately, since heart rate data allows us to better estimate caloric burn and, in turn, exercise intensity. If you're unhappy with your active minutes total, we recommend logging the activity manually as described in this help article.

@Goldengirl78, thanks for your reply! So you use the Multisport option but when you sync your Charge 2, no exercise appears there, right? No steps, no distance, calories? Or is it just the day that won't showed up? Let me know!

I'll be around guys!

The heart rate is not accurate during exercise. I’ll be running up a major hill and at the top— 79 bpm. Next time I look, 99 bpm. Obviously not accurate. I’ll move it around, loosen it, tighten it, etc.
it’s totally hit and miss. Seems to always be accurate when I’m sitting around and at work, but not during a workout.

Thanks for your reply @Goldengirl78! If you have made sure that you are wearing your Charge 2 correctly but still not tracking your heart rate accurately, I suggest you to take a look at the instructions in this post to restart it. After that, please wear it for a few days and let me know how it goes.

Have a nice day!

Can add exercize  , calories, but says not enough information where sync would’ve bern. Always  did before 2/25/29. Resetting fitbit, turning iphone off and on  to reset, and deleting and readding app did not work. Thanks.
