Charge 3 - All Day Sync won't work

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Charge 3 does not sync info to app on iPhone X Fitbit app. With setting to sync all day, it will not sync steps etc back to app unless manually ask syncing. Charge 3 receives notifications during the day and phone is always with me.

Welcome on board @jolim, it's nice to see you around! If the All-Day Sync doesn't work properly, I'd recommend doing the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit app is up-to-date
  • Log out of your Fitbit app
  • Force quit the app
  • Restart your Charge 3
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app

If the issue persists, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Charge 3 and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device". Then in Fitbit app, turn on All-day Sync, let it ask to pair, let it pair. Smiley Wink

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!

I just tried all steps mentioned and my Charge 3 still won’t connect to All Day Sync

Best Answer

Same here, did all the steps.  I have a charge 3 and iPhone X.  Trouble started after the last update.

Same won’t let me sync and when I try to change clock face it says cannot connect. Also have a Charge3

I have an iPhone XR, and I’m on my second Fitbit charge 3. The first Fitbit charge 3 died after only a few weeks. BOTH charge 3’s, however,  have had the same issue with syncing issues. I have to follow the troubleshooting steps for syncing every other day in order to continue data collection from my Fitbit in any useful sense. It’s too tedious though. My old Fitbits have been great, durable and reliable. I’m saddened that this Charge 3 and the new software have both been such a mess. I gave in and bought Apple Watch even though their pedometer is horribly inaccurate compared to my Fitbit. I have recruited 6 friends and family to join daily Fitbit challenges, for years now... but I can’t do Fitbit challenges when my steps say “0” all day. There’s no point! And when I have to go into the Fitbit app 10 times a day and force sync over and over, and “forget device” in Bluetooth settings, remove Fitbit from my Fitbit account and force quitting the app, sign out and sign back in.... ugh! I’m over it! I’m done with it. I’m getting rid of my Fitbit, screw it. I’ll give it away as a gift.

I have to do your steps every time I try to sync my charge 3.  Or at least forget the device in Bluetooth settings. Very inconvenient.

Worked for me!   Can now turn on all day sync again, and I now can see my heart beats per minute in the Fitbit app again. It’s been driving me crazy ever since I got a new iPhone 8  and tried the Fitbit app on that one too -  literally hours of time tracking different posts,  none of which worked until I found this one. Apparently the charge 2,  which I have, will  only pair with one device at a time. When I tried  to sync with both My iPad and my iPhone I eventually broke all day sync  on both, and I could not turn it on again.  I kept getting  a message saying I needed to pair it, which now always failed. These steps fixed it. I now just have to be careful not to have Bluetooth on with both devices at the same time if I’m going to my Fitbit app randomly  on either device when they are in close proximity to each other. I’m not sure but I think that was the problem. And anyway I now have my iPhone at least working  and showing all my data including beats per minute. At some later time I will try this with the iPad and if I can get them to cooperate together.

I’m sorry. None of the solutions Fitbit support have sent me work for any period of time. I have to ‘forget’ and re-pair my Fitbit Charge 3 almost every day. I have never been able to get an all day sync. I am very disappointed in Fitbit and the Charge 3. If it hadn’t been so expensive, I would have replaced it with a different model.

My Charge 3 is working better.  It syncs every time I open the app.  Very occasionally, about every 3-4 weeks I need to forget the device and re-sync.

I have an old Charge 2 and Alta.  I had to forget both of those devices permanently.  My Charge 3 definitely did not work with other devices also syncing to my app.  That is a bit disappointing since I liked to use the other devices occasionally.  The Alta has a gold metal band is more dressy for formal occasions.  I'd use the Charge 2 when my Charge 3 was charging.

Also, I found that I can have my Charge 3 only paired with one device.  When I had it paired to my laptop and my phone the Charge 3 did not sync consistently.

Other than that I am not sure what else I did.

One weird thing is that the All Day Sync sliding button is no longer shoowing up on the settings page for my Charge 3.

I have the exact same issues! Fitbit must know about these issues with the charge 3 but give us the same manual labor intensive manual steps. Be nice if they’d just fess up!

Yes, and replace them with a model that functions the way it is supposed to.

None of these have worked, what would be the next best solution? Return my Fitbit considering it is not compatible with my iPhone XR?

There are many bugs in the software and working with iphone. After months of frustration, my fitbit is finally syncing with the iphone on the first try. (usually). Now I cannot do the update. It just hangs and never finishes. I think it is because I do not have it set to all day sync. However,  the "all day sync" setting is not even on my account menu anymore. It is not an option. It gives me the option to sync now and that is it.  I tried updating the app and it did not change. Anyone else have this weird issue?.

I was able to update with no problems.   I do not have all-day sync anymore either.  Whenever I open my fitbit app on my iPhone, my fitbit syncs to my phone.

Don’t update charge 3. The update is messed up totally it’s configured in settings to errands? But can’t sync that? Then has sleep modes? Developers need to check there stuff out test first before just throw it at us as Ginny pigs

I've just tried these steps and still no good. Everything has gone wrong since the last update a few weeks ago.

Not syncing, time stops, Bluetooth saying incorrect key.

I've reset it many times over the past few weeks, getting new pin, it works for a little while and then goes haywire again.

Definitely not happy with the charge 3, I'm on my 3rd because of errors ☹️
