Charge 3 Completely Dead

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday my 1.5 yr. old Charge 3 completely died. I have tried everything to get it going again: plug it into charger, hold down button for 8 seconds...etc...plug in, unplug...it’s completely unresponsive. The button doesn’t vibrate, screen is black, no lights flashing on the back and yet it had a decent amount of charge in it at the time.

Its only just a little over a year old...is it completely dead, or does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do???

If you're in the UK/EU you're still in warranty. Otherwise, you're screwed, to put it bluntly! It seems a common problem.

I'd contact FitBit support either through the chat or email.

The batteries obviously don't last as long as they claim to as there are hundreds of people on here complaining theirs has died within a year or 18 months (when it's supposed to last 150-200 (?) charge cycles). Mine did the same - 18 months old and got the black lines, then the screen went entirely then it would not hold charge at all.

This is what they told me by email:

1. Are the battery contacts clean?
2. If so, please check if the charging contacts securely fit the Fitbit device.
3. Once checked, please try a different USB port or UL-certified wall charger to charge your Fitbit device.
4. Please restart your Charge 3 by holding the button for 15 seconds while it's charging.  The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.  The device turns off.  The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.  Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.  Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.
5. Please try to charge it for at least 30 minutes. (or try another charging cable if you have)

I did this and it still died within 1 hour after it was fully charged!

I had this exact same issue 2 days ago. I contacted fit bit support by phone. They did nothing but offer 25 percent off my buying a new watch with them. No repair service, Nothing. I'm incredibly disappointed. This was my first fit bit. I'm currently online shopping for competitors. I can't believe the lack of customer support and technical for a 200.00 watch.

I haven't had this yet with Charge 3, but I have gone through several Charge 2's - after about a year (usually right after warranty is gone), my Charge 2's have died without any warning.  One quit during a half marathon - needless to say, I was not happy!  I think they want you to continue to buy the product so they die.  My Charge 3 about once a month, locks up and I have to plug it in and hold the button so that it resets.  I have about another 6 months before I hit the age of yours, so time will tell.
